Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This is a great school for parents to stay on top their children performance level.

I am a parent, my son is currently in 5th grade. He has been attending PS195 since kindergarten and I have no regrets. He was performed very well both academically and socially. Parents have to understand that they have a big role to play in their children's education. The teachers can do so much but we have to let learning transcend beyond the classroom. Ultimately, parents have to help in their children's academic growth. Praises for ps 195 and it's leadership.

My child is in pre-k, I'm just getting to know the school. So far it seems to be a good school but I will know more by the end of this school year. The one thing thar I do like is that they have 2 daycare facilities on the school grounds which is a huge help to working parents like myself.

I am not sure what school these parents are commenting on... but this school is a 2 according to the great schools list and should be a -0! This school is the worst, there are certain teachers who care, but there are more who do not! The staff speak at children and use the "multi-purpose room" as a babysitting room where they watch television. The do not have recess, the parent coordinator Ms. Harris is unpleasant, condescending, and is not be the liaison between staff and the children. I HATE this school and my child will not see a second half of the year. I thought I could make it work, but her class has 35 students.. with one teacher.. that ratio is sick! Let's not forget principal Bailey who can never muster up a "Good Morning", she is despondent and not involved!

Great school, family oriented. Principal is very dedicated. I love that the school encourages and promote the children to express themselves in a positive way. Hence, there have been books published by students of this school.

P.S. 195Q is an excellent school. The entire administration is together. This school is family oriented. The staff pushes the children to reach their goals. Teaches them to think outside the box. They also challenges our children to be better, do better and to aim high. The school has great leadership. I'm proud to be apart of 195.

My children grandchilden/other family members attend this scool. From my experience since Ms. Bailey has been principal it is more structured and the discipline and learnng is on point. There is a Parent Coordnator there named Ms. Harris who keeps the parents involved and is a hands on type of person. My grandkids talk of her as if she was a family member. She is always working with us and many others that I see her helping. She works along with the principal to keep the school running. I thought she was the assistant principal. Keep up the good work Ms. Bailey and Ms. Harris you two make the best team

My girls are happy at PS 195, William Haberle School. I m pleased that the school communicates with the parent(s) when children misbehave. I find discipline is consistent and is enforced based on the behavior, and the agreement between parent and school. I strongly believe that because of this type of open communication the parent is able to also work with the child at home to help correct the delinquent behavior. Curricular and extracurricular activities at the school encourage not only the children, but parents as well, to want to become involved. I don t believe I have missed an event, yet. There is this warm homey feeling. Everyone is pleasant and kind. Security officers are super helpful. I cannot think of a nicer environment for children, than PS 195 William Haberle. Thanks to the many teachers and employees who make this wonderful environment available for our children. Thank you! Claudia Shim

My review of this school on a scale of 1-10 is 8. There were a few mishaps but general the staffs are friendly and helpful and you feel the one on one closeness. My child has been at this school since pre-K, now in grade 1 and I've never come across a friendlier, caring, understanding and wants to see my child succeeds set of staff. However, the principal could be a little friendlier and say hello to parents from time to time whenever she walks the hallways.

My son just started to attend Kindergarten this September. From the looks of thing I like what I've seen so far. The students wear uniforms & seen to well rounded. The staff and teachers that I've talked to have been helpful. The Principal need to be a little more friendly and not so rigid. Let's hope for the best because my son education is the most important thing to me.

My first real experience was this year. I think my kids had a great year. There were a few mishaps this year but overall, I think the principal Mrs Bailey is doing a great job. I have seen so much improvement with her at the helm. There is so much activities and after school programs that the kids can get involve in. Makes me wish the kids would be able to go on to twelve grade in this school, unfortunately it stops at sixth grade. My son graduated this pass monday and his overal experience was a great one. I hope Mrs Baily will be able to continue to be the principal of this school.
