My son is currently in 2nd grade and is bored to tears. Two of his three years at WH Stevenson he's been in classrooms with no classroom management, resulting in chaos. He is intelligent and gifted and there is nothing for him at this school. There is no attention or focus on kids who excel. No challenge. The principal is useless and will "talk away" any concern to a misunderstanding. I have never met one parent who has complimented him. We have a very active PTA, but unorganization at events. There are no academically challenging events. Though the school boasts character education and anti-bullying, it is a facade. There is much teasing, etc that happens without consequence in the school.

As an involved parent, I am disappointed that the school continues to focus only on test scores and the children who need help getting to the minimum necessary levels. Very little effort is put into making the school a challenging environment for gifted children. I happen to have one very gifted student who is bored out of his mind most of the time and another who slipped through the cracks and only after months of working with the teacher, did we determine that his problems stem from issues that could have been addressed months before if we had more than a part-time occupational therapist. The principal talks down to parents, fosters a hostile environment with staff and if I had the resources, I would put my kids into a private school in a heartbeat.

I , myself, went to Stevenson Elementary...as well as my teen son and now my two daughters. I have found it to be a very nurtouring atmosphere that really takes an interest in the importance and academics, as well as family involvement. My youngest daughter has some learning issues and I have found that the teachers, aides and other staff at Stevenson have really gone the extra mile to keep my husband and myself informed and empowered in her educational path.

My daughter has been at Stevenson since Kindergarten. She is now in 5th grade. I have nothing but positive to say about Stevenson. The teachers that she has had through the years have been exceptional. I am not looking forward to her last day here. I will miss the Stevenson Community in Ransomville.

Ihave found the pre school program to be un organized, there was no orientation,no meeting with teachers before the start of school, and while my child adores her teacher now , she will have to ajust to a new one soon, because the current one is a sub, and while the children have bus transportation to school there is none to get them home. and the noon pick up is not well organized. I can only hope that the later years will show improvement.

I feel that overall the school seems to be good, unless your child has reading difficulty.
