This is a wonderful and diverse school with a great sense of community. Half of the student body is made up of students who are English Language Learners. The teachers and administrators know and care about each student. There is a rich music and creative expression program. The school has a garden and kitchen for student use. There are whole school briefings/meeting 2x a week where everyone celebrates accomplishments, shares projects &/or music. The teachers and administrators are very committed. The Children's School of Rochester is such a special place.
This is a magnificent program. Half of the seats are reserved for recent immigrant or refugee children. You can feel the love as the whole school gathers three mornings a week to share their learning in music, dance or other forms. Each grade is a 'family' of 45 students with 3 teachers. My son has special needs, and is integrated into a regular classroom. One of the 3 teachers is special ed certified. We feel truly fortunate that he obtained one of the city-wide lottery seats, and has been there since kindergarten. I can't say enough about how wonderful this school is, and only wish it went up to 8th grade.
