Every student from Pre-K through 5th recites the mission statement: "The mission of Ulysses Byas Elementary School, an eclectic environment, is to provide interactive, motivational and culturally enriching skills that cultivate students to reach their highest possibilities by exceeding the standards: Therefore empowering them to contribute to the transformation of the universe" For the 6th consecutive year the UB Chessnuts team has placed 1st on LI. UB has impeccable winter and spring concerts; 99% of the students wear uniforms. Students and all stakeholders are requested to read for 30 minutes every night. The 5th grade class has a culminating trip to Disney World where they participate in an engaging educational program. The school was featured on justforthekids.com. They were first place winners of 2011 Health Plus Asthma Awareness Poster.

Ulysses Byas Elementary School offers an excellent academic environment. Teachers and staff strive everyday to provide an environment conducive for learning. The school offers many programs for students to such as their chess program that serves grade k-5 and consistently ranks as one of the best on Long Island year after year. Students are encouraged to enter various artistic endeavors for which they receive high commendations for their work. Students who attend this school can expect to achieve greatness.

best school in Roosevelt. Devoted principal & outstanding teachers.Students usually score high on their academic & performance test , This school has made AYP for the past 19 years. Perhaps the greatest yearly culminating activity for the graduates(5THgr) is their trip to Disney World.
