The administration takes on too many roles and has no idea which way is up. The councelor calls kids "monkeys".There are many safety issues, yes OSHA has been called. There is no structure.

The teacher and principal and very responsive to parents' needs. My son has been going there for almost 2 years and Ms. Narell (grade 4 teacher) and Mrs. Peetes Butcher (principal) are amazing!!

I think the school has major room for improvement. The classrooms are overcorwded and understaffed, depriving the children of the education they really deserve. The principal does not display strong leadership.I had issues since my child has been enrolled and cannot wait to remove them. They unorganized, and unstructured.

Although the principal and teacher are working very hard, this school has some deficits. There is a need for more space and the buildings are crumbling. There are also some problems with organization and schedules; it is clear that some additional professional development is necessary for the staff members.

I worked here and could not wait to leave! It was such a horrible experience; I would rather work in Wal-Mart.

You walk into the school and you are proud. You pick your child up from a class trip and you hear learning come alive. The teachers are involved with the students. The principal is involved with teachers, parents and students. The students continue to score high on their tests. This is a well run school.

Please know that this is a school that has a wonderful and outstanding principal. She has compassion and truly loves the children. The staff are equally as diligent. The only area that needs growth are the facilities. Parents stand up for your school!!! We need a building so that we do not loose our children to the streets!! The academy will work with us!! The rca staff will take care of our children but they need your help to get a building!

I think this school has great potential, but is lacking the necessary space to excel to the greatness desired. The area is not the most condusive for a learning enviornment. Mrs. Ashley, the principal has done a tremendous job, and I hope she keeps striving for excellence. I definitely prefer it over sending my son to the Hempstead school district.

It may very well be a good school -- however, the school has had a different principal every year since it has been open. The school is chartered to go up one grade per year and they do -- but, as it increases in number they have to lose the earlier grades. ie, K-4, 1-5, 2-6. The charter does not say that can not be done. So they do. There is no gym if that is of importance to you. The children work and eat all in the same classrooms. Even though there is indeed a waiting list to get in, think of how many children have they lost in the process. They have two sites at present one on Pleasant Avenue -- the other is housed in a church on Brookside.

This is an excellent school for being in the town of Roosevelt. The teachers are wonderful as well as the principal. The educational aspect of it, is spectactular. My only fault with the school, is that it's in a very unsafe environment. Alot of parents are considering on removing their children from this program. If this school made better provisions for the students safety, I am sure many parents would let their children continue their education at RCA on Pleasant Ave. in Roosevelt, NY.
