Westfield is a unique place for young people to learn and grow. Its therapuetic environment is supportive of students with psychiatric or emothional issues. The staff is there because they love working with students in this age group. Students and staff coexist as a warm, supportive community. NYS and CT curriculums are followed and students success on Regents exams are impressive. This is a one of a kind school that serves a very unique purpose. I am very impressed with what I discovered when observing the school

I am a former teacher of Westfield Day School. While it was once a safe haven for students to come and learn in their own styles, it has become a dumping ground. Myself and other teachers left once the son (Mark Weiner) of the former headmaster (Judith Weiner) was removed.

I have taught at Westfield Day School for a number of years and can say without hesitation that the level of academic work prepares students to pass their state exams and attend high quality colleges. Many of my students have done just that. I highly recommend Westfield Day School.

Several private school headmasters we spoke to in Westchester highly recommended Westfield as an alternative to a boarding school for our emotionally fragile teen. With only 15 to 18 students attending at any given time, the kids get an unbelievable amount of attention from instructors. Some kids come for a few weeks, some for a month, and others, like our kids, wind up coming back to finish their high school experience, prep for college and graduate. ONe on one counseling twice a week and weekly group therapy seems to work for my child. She is getting both academic support, preparation for further education, and the therapeutic component has helped keep her stable. We were drowning in the public high school, this school really stabilized her. I would be happy to speak to any parent considering this school.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
