Mediocre small town school. Good for football and sports jocks. Not a challenging place for a bright student. The teachers complain they don't have time to challenge a bright student because they have 23 other students to deal with. The teaching aims toward the lowest level in the class. My child finds it very tedious and uninspiring.

I don't know nothing about the school but I'm moving to Saranac Lake at the end of March and that's the school I'm going to. My grandma told me it was a great school. She knows the principal and my new baseball coach there so that's a start. I just hope I'm accepted there and make a lot of freinds.

Teachers are engaging, especially the newer generation of staff. Sports is popular among the students. Leadership has improved significantly over the past couple of years. If a child is having trouble, I would like to see teachers contacting parents immediately. This doesn't necessarily happen until later.

Very good High School for an isolated community. Parent involvement is low because generally the school system does not encourage it. Good teachers, sports may be emphasized but that is because there is not a lot else to do. School probably could do more for bright students. However, graduates of this high school have little problem getting into very good colleges, including Ivy League colleges.

I am not a parent but I went to this school and graduated in 2004. It was by far the worst high school that I have ever attended. Life is completely centered around sports. The teachers are okay, as it is the blatant disregard for academics by the administration that severely pulls this schools ranking down. Overall, this is a bad school for bright students.

Parents have to initiate contact otherwise you will never hear from a teacher.Athletics come before academics. The code of conduct signed by students and parents for athletics means nothing they mine as well throw it away.

If your child is an above average student or one who sits in the corner - great school. Want your child to do well here - get them on the Football or Hockey Team - they are the golden children. Parental involvement - if you want to help your child out when a problem arises - do nothing otherwise it will be worse.

I had a lot of good times in good ol' Saranac Lake. The staff there were great and took the time to really help out the students. Of course some of us kids complained about the amount of homework but it really made a huge difference. Of course there were times when discipline was assessed when it wasn't necessary and times when it wasn't when it should have been. I would have love to see more parents involved with some of the activities though some helped here and there but over all it was a good experience and a very rounded out school.
