I graduated from Saranac in 2008. I was a member of the Saranac School district since I was in the first grade. I felt very welcome when I arrived. The middle school is phenomenal the faculty was awesome when I was in middle school. I particularly was very impressed and happy with the Guidance Counselor's Office, they were very friendly and dealt with any issues immediately and efficiently. From what I hear nothing has changed. The Guidance office is still spectacular.
This school is OK overall. I went here too and I would say they are average for the area. The teachers do the best they can overall but there is some favoritizm.
Sports seem to take priority over education. Overall disappointment in administration.. The entire district has numerous teachers who are related.. husbands/wives - sisters, etc. I do not believe that is in the best interest of the students.
They some good teachers but we have had some problems with others. Seems like we have had to contact the school principal too many times for issues that should of been taken care of without our intervention.
Saranac Junior High School has good qualities and could be a good school but, it lacks the leadership/discipline to succeed. The program for the students with disabilities is in desperate need of reorganization. The atmosphere among the students seems to be very positive, forms of humane treatment appear to be encouraged, as long as you do not step out of line.
Saranac Junior High School has developed an appropriate program to help the middle school students treat others fairly and with respect. The school needs to teach tolerance and awareness of students with disabilities. The school does not practice inclusion but segregation.
