Edgewood has a learning resource room that kids with LD, ADHD can get assigned to go to IF they have an IEP/504B. Some kids don't have a classification and get lost in the shuffle. They also can get OT, PT and speech. My son has an IEP so he has a good support system. He is pulled to Learning resource room 4x out of a 6 day cycle. He has 2x speech and 1x OT. I think it has been appropriate for him. I have also hired a private tutor for home 1x a week to go over things that the school has missed. She is from the Winward School and understands Hudson's needs well.
Edgewood Elementary School. Scarsdale, NY The learning resource room is a great asset if you have an IEP/504B plan to use it. The staff at Edgewood has done their best to accommodate my son since K. I appreciate their collaborative nature and main goal to keep my son up to speed with his class. The PTA does a great program called Learning from our Differences which Project Eye to Eye participates in. It is a great way for the kids in 4th grade to see peers in HS with LD and know that learning in a different way is NOT a bad thing.
As parents we love Edgewood School. The teachers are innovative at their work. They pay attention to individual kid's development in various areas and cater to their needs. The school is able to provide great resource and facility for the teacher and students. The parents participation is a highlight of Edgewood School. The PTA is excellent in organizing activities, especially for new families joining the school. The communication between parents and teachers is highly effective.
Edgewood faculty and most of its parents have the right approach to educating the young child: learning should be challenging and enjoyable. This school also focuses on the whole child- his emotional, mental and physical wellbeing- so that the child is prepared to find his place in society.
Edgewood is a terrific place, with wonderful, caring teachers. Top-notch curriculum, very diverse student body. As well, the school is full of down-to-earth families.
