Woodlawn has fallen well below what it used to be. While we still have some great teachers, many more do barely enough to scrape by. Bullying has become a huge issue, not only by the students, but by staff as well. Its definately not the beautiful field of flowers described by the other posts.... how much did they get paid to say that stuff?
The teachers are great and highly dedicated to the students
I love how parent friendly the school is. The teachers are very informative and patient. They teach great values and are very caring towards the students.
The teachers are amazing. The school is very parent friendly. The principle is very organized.
The new principal at Woodlawn is really trying to change and better the school. She has made numerous changes in regards to discipline for inappropriate behavior, respect for self and others, and the overall atmosphere at the school. I do feel like this school is understaffed for being the largest public elem school in the Schenectady district - the principal is also addressing that issue. I do agree that the fundraisers are OUT OF CONTROL but on the flip side the $$ is to improve the school. The school is a little clicky (lots of stay home moms) who pretty much run the show and are not willing to make exceptions for us f/t working parents for example PTA meetings at 2:30 w/ 1 day notice. I would give this school a C beyond Woodlawn elem the Schnectady school district deserves an F!
