Brown School is a wonderful school. It is warm and welcoming, and my children feel a strong sense of belonging to the school community -as do my husband and I. The academics are rigorous, but engaging, and my children are making enormous progress. They also love the arts programs-art, movement and music that encourage their creative growth. As a working mom, I appreciate the after-school and vacation day programs that provide my children with safe care in an environment that continues to stimulate their growth outside of the classroom. The strong after-school programs are a godsend....I would highly recommend this school. I hope to see you and your children there next year!

This school is awesome. My children love it there, they have small classes, an enthusiastic, wonderful staff. The teachers are so creative, the children learn in so many different ways. Each child gets the individual attention they need.

Our kids go to Brown School and they love it. Our daughter is in 1st grade and is doing well academically, learning to read and write. In addition, she is getting a well-rounded education, including her artistic and musical abilities that have greatly improved. She is also learning Spanish, and taking piano lessons in the afterschool program right at Brown School. We like the school a lot, and the parents are very involved, e.g. organizing movie nights at the school for the kids.

Brown enjoys a very participatory parent community who enjoy a close relationship with the staff. As the parent of a second grader now in her third year there, I feel confident that she is learning all the skills that make great people great and that the quality of her education is far richer than what she would get in the public system (of which I'm a product of). At Brown there's an emphasis on 'mindfulness', or understanding one's self and their place in community. Learning to quiet one's own mind is important as well as understanding conflict and building cooperation; stuff we found missing in the public schools, and woefully missing in our 'grown-up' culture. I'm really only a parent, but check out Brown. I feel it provides skills that few other curricula do, a solid foundation for success in life.

If the motto of this website wasn't 'Involved Parents. Successful kids.', I would say the same about Brown. Exceptional staff, dedicated faculty, unique philosophy. You need only step into halls and you feel the vibrance and love of learning. The commitment to the futures of children and supporting the families is unparalleled. The Brown Community is cherished & nurtured with the same devotion shown for the children. Excellence that has no boundaries.

We have found the education at Brown School to be academically challenging at the middle school level. The language arts and social studies program is particularly advanced and exciting. There are a large number of extra curricular options in every area and a high level of student participation. These opportunities include team sports, drama, socials, and family trips. There is a strong parent involvement in these activities and in fundraising efforts.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
