Quality teachers that invest into the life of my child, great environment, lots of activities. We are happy that our child is learning the Bible and that Christian values are being taught.

MCA prepared our children for college, and helped developed them into well rounded students that have a strong foundation of faith. Mekeel has been a very positive experience for our family.

At Mekeel the teachers truly care about the students and want to see them succeed. MCA is focused on teaching students how to live and not just how to make a living. The environment is positive and friendly. Any student can benefit from an MCA education, and they will be prepared for the next stage of their life.

During the past four years since the completion of the activity center building project there has been a very large staff turnover rate. Academics has taken a subservient position to the leadership mission of making Mekeel "the premier" Christian school in the capital district. The term "premier" in reality has come to be associated with several things but academic leadership is not one of them.
Do not send your child here if you know what is good for them. This school used to be a Godly school. I know because I went there my whole childhood. Now I am a parent and send my child to the school. It is true, the school is more concerned with sports than academics. Their Christian values have gone down the tubes. They are academically behind and don't listen to parental advice. I give this school a zero on all counts.

My wife and I have four children, 2 of which graduated from SCS and 2 which are currently attending Mekeel Christian Academy (formerly SCS). Mekeel has been a tremendous blessing to our family and consistently demonstrates the Christian values that we strive to raise our children with. I've seen firsthand the impact upon my own children and witnessed the lifechanging compassion, truth and Godly world view that is poured into the student body each day by the staff. The staff see this as God's school and an instrument to be used to do His will. I could never imagine sending my children to any other school. I thank God for Mekeel Christian School everyday. I see the fruit of the labor of the staff and coaches in kids at MCA. No school is perfect, but Mekeel is a school that places Christ as the overwhelming priority in all that they do. As imperfect people serving a Perfect God , they continually do all they can everyday for the student body. I've been associated with the school for 18 years and strongly recommend it to my friends and neighbors. Looking for a perfect school ? Keep looking. Looking for a GODLY school , check out Mekeel .

Mekeel has prepared my children for success in all areas of life. Our family has been associated with Mekeel since the mid 90's and witnessed the the transition from SCS to Mekeel. Mekeel's administration is forward thinking, Christian focused, and willing to make the tough decision regardless of popular opinion for the benefit of the school. The teaching staff has a good balance of experience and youth to provide structure & stability along with fresh ideas/concepts. The academic programs are challenging and prepare students for success in college. Overall, Mekeel provides the opportunity and resources for students to become strong, successful, Christian leaders. I believe (and remind my kids) providing that opportunity is the goal of the school, the level of success is determined by the student.

The teachers really care about the students and their life beyond high school. My kids made a great transition and quickly made friends and joined activities. My children are receiving strong counseling and instruction that is a great benefit to us as a family. As students they are developing reasoning and communication skills that their previous school did not focus on. Overall good teachers, friendly and helpful administration, and courses that are preparing my kids for college. It's a great school for our family to be a part of.

MCA was a successful transition from homeschooling. Our children adapted quickly, made great friends and had the credentials of a reputable, college preparatory school behind them. The reputation of MCA was the deciding factor of our child being accepted into a very competitive college program. It was the best decision for our family!

Mekeel has been the best decision our family has made for our children. The overall experience, the environment, and the sense of community has been beyond our expectations. Our child entered Mekeel in middle school and now as a high school student has begun to take great strides towards personal responsibility and a willingness to be challenged. The schoolwork/homework can be overwhelming at first but it has been a pleasure to work with the teachers and to see their passion for each student.

As an alumni I cannot speak more highly of MCA. When I went to college I was prepared for all my course work and had the confidence and ability to effectively communicate with my professors, my peers, and people in the professional world. The school also gave me a strong Biblical foundation and sense of community that endures to this day. As I am exposed to more and more educational institutions and businesses in general I have realized that there was something very different about MCA. The teachers really cared, the parents were involved, and the environment allowed us to learn without having to worry about all the other stuff that high school kids are being faced with today. The school gave me a great foundation and opportunity to succeed in my college and professional life.
I am curently a student at Mekeel Christian Academy(SCS). This school is portrayed as a great Christian school that shows no favortism of any kind. I have veiwed over the past few years that this school is all about basketball and doesn't discipline those students who are on the team. Furthermore students of influencial families fail to be disciplined as well. Favortism is shown in this school, the Bible states in James 2:1 "My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism." If this school is truly following Jesus then favortism will not be shown. On top of that over the past few years teachers have left for various reasons, most of which we are unknown. Very few teachers are qualified to teach the subjects they do.
I am currently a high school student at the former Schenectady Christian School, now Mekeel Christian Academy. I think that this school is better than a public school if your child is being bullied, especially if they are 7th or higher. Until recently, this school has been very good with issues. in the past two years i believe it has made some major mistakes. such as changing its name. It also fired (i think, i never could get an answer) a teacher who although not mine, was my siblings in a younger grade, whose children were my friends, who i thought very highly of. i am not quite sure what happened, but they up and left. Besides that there are two staff members that i can think of that should be fired due to their incompetence. in my grade there has never been a problem with bullying, misbehavior ETC. but in the younger grades, at an alarming rate i see these things more often. it all depends on which class you get put in. my siblings class is a disaster, but mine has no problems. the education however, is very good. they do however lack programs for very academic high school students, but this can be remedied with college classes. Overall this is a very Godly school.
I wanted to start this school in the 8th grade due to the size of the large public high school I would have to go to the size seemed okay little did I know the class size is the exact size of my public school. My class has the worse repuation I have been bullied time after time and the students are lazy, rude, treat teachers like dirt, and the atmosphere is no differnt than my public school. Two of my six teachers have emails that they actually check and it like pulling teeth for my to ask them my grade. I'm begging you don't save you money send them to public school and have that be their mission field. I feel behind as well with this school and was having to stay after multiple times a week because ZERO WORK WAS GETTING DONE DURING THE CLASS TIME and there is little to no discipline. THey also told the parent body first when they wanted to change the name. C'MON get with the program.
My daughter went to SCS from k to 12th. She recieved an excellent education but more importantly, she learned the Word of God. Although she graduated, she still supports the school by going to concerts and sports events.

The school is focused on teaching Christian principles and a Christian Worldview in all subjects; this is what I call true edcuation. In a world seeking to devalue God's word, SCS's teachers, board and parents are working together to promote it in our students.

My daughter is in kindergarten at SCS and she loves it. The school is small enough that she already knows most of the teachers and quite a few of the older students. The teachers are great, they care and encourage a community atmosphere.

My wife and I have been unbelievably pleased with SCS. Like any organization it has its faults and shortcomings but our kids have been turning out great so far. That is in large part due to the fine faculty and staff at SCS. Our kids have been able to be involved in a wide variety of activities (sports, music, drama). We love the SCS teachers.

Two of my children have attended SCS for several years. The oldest is now a senior and the other is in junior high. They like SCS and I love it! Small, personal, responsive and challenging, the teachers at SCS have taught my children to write well. The AP and honors classes have been a real stretch for my daughter but the teachers were with her each step of the way. I'm very happy that the school is switching to uniforms this fall.

This is a great school. I am not a parent, but a student who currently goes to Schenectady Christian. I have enjoyed all five years I've been here so far, and I know that others will enjoy being here as well.
