I am currently a high school student at the former Schenectady Christian School, now Mekeel Christian Academy. I think that this school is better than a public school if your child is being bullied, especially if they are 7th or higher. Until recently, this school has been very good with issues. in the past two years i believe it has made some major mistakes. such as changing its name. It also fired (i think, i never could get an answer) a teacher who although not mine, was my siblings in a younger grade, whose children were my friends, who i thought very highly of. i am not quite sure what happened, but they up and left. Besides that there are two staff members that i can think of that should be fired due to their incompetence. in my grade there has never been a problem with bullying, misbehavior ETC. but in the younger grades, at an alarming rate i see these things more often. it all depends on which class you get put in. my siblings class is a disaster, but mine has no problems. the education however, is very good. they do however lack programs for very academic high school students, but this can be remedied with college classes. Overall this is a very Godly school.

I wanted to start this school in the 8th grade due to the size of the large public high school I would have to go to the size seemed okay little did I know the class size is the exact size of my public school. My class has the worse repuation I have been bullied time after time and the students are lazy, rude, treat teachers like dirt, and the atmosphere is no differnt than my public school. Two of my six teachers have emails that they actually check and it like pulling teeth for my to ask them my grade. I'm begging you don't save you money send them to public school and have that be their mission field. I feel behind as well with this school and was having to stay after multiple times a week because ZERO WORK WAS GETTING DONE DURING THE CLASS TIME and there is little to no discipline. THey also told the parent body first when they wanted to change the name. C'MON get with the program.

This is the third time I have attempted to post a negative review about this school and the review continues to get removed. All the information I am posting is true and can be backed up. We had our daughter in this school since Kindergarten and pulled her out after 3rd grade. She was bullied by a classmate who's parent just so happens to have a high position within the school. Our complaints fell on deaf ears. The school caters to families who have large incomes and status in the area. My wife and I would not recommend this school because they do little to nothing about kids getting bullied. I don't feel that they are creating a Godly environment when they allow situations like this to continue and to show favortism to big family names in our area. Our experience was not the best, I hope yours is better.

My daughter went to SCS from k to 12th. She recieved an excellent education but more importantly, she learned the Word of God. Although she graduated, she still supports the school by going to concerts and sports events.

The school is focused on teaching Christian principles and a Christian Worldview in all subjects; this is what I call true edcuation. In a world seeking to devalue God's word, SCS's teachers, board and parents are working together to promote it in our students.

My daughter is in kindergarten at SCS and she loves it. The school is small enough that she already knows most of the teachers and quite a few of the older students. The teachers are great, they care and encourage a community atmosphere.

My wife and I have been unbelievably pleased with SCS. Like any organization it has its faults and shortcomings but our kids have been turning out great so far. That is in large part due to the fine faculty and staff at SCS. Our kids have been able to be involved in a wide variety of activities (sports, music, drama). We love the SCS teachers.

SCS is a step above the area s low achieving, violent public schools. However the school is inbred and caters to a few dominate families. The remaining students are often marginalized.

Two of my children have attended SCS for several years. The oldest is now a senior and the other is in junior high. They like SCS and I love it! Small, personal, responsive and challenging, the teachers at SCS have taught my children to write well. The AP and honors classes have been a real stretch for my daughter but the teachers were with her each step of the way. I'm very happy that the school is switching to uniforms this fall.

This is a great school. I am not a parent, but a student who currently goes to Schenectady Christian. I have enjoyed all five years I've been here so far, and I know that others will enjoy being here as well.
