Maria Regina is getting a new principal. It will be number 9 in the past 21 years. When are they going to get it right???? My oldest child went and his three siblings went to St. William the Abbot. Much better school than Maria Regina.
Wow! What a fantastic school. It is very nice and the schools way of teaching is phenomenal. I have my daughter in 7th grade now and she loves it!!!!! They give children a lot of freedom as well as discipline.
When I first registered my children here, I was skeptical about all the negative reviews. Now that my children are in the school, I am skeptical about the rave reviews. The principal here should be better trained on how to handle the children that misbehave because it does affect the entire class. These rave reviews may sound wonderful but be sure to do your own research!
Now starting our 11th year here and could not be happier. My children love the school and so do I. Warm, nurturing, environment. Extremely dedicated teachers and administration who help each child reach their potential. What more can you ask for? We have made friends for life here. Never once have we doubted whether this school is worth the sacrifice we have to make to send our children here.
I have to agree with the review that the administration is very poor. My children are getting a wonderful education and that is why we stay year after year. However, this school does admit all the problem children. It does keep enrollment up. These children continually misbehave with no consequences. Of course every child is entitled to a Catholic Education! But there is absolutely no discipline here.
As at teacher who has worked in both public and Catholic schools, I do not agree with the previous reviewers assesment of Maria. Regina School. As any educator knows there will always be children with behavioral issues. Does that mean that they do not have the right to a Catholic school education? Maria Regina and its' competent staff is willing to assist any child and help get them on the road to becoming succesful learners. By the way, I am not a member of the Parent Association.
I do believe that most reviews are from the parents association. Yes - The teachers here are great! They truly are. However, the Administration is very poor. They will admit any child with behavioral issues just to keep up their enrollment. Do yourself a favor and explore all the catholic schools before settling for this one.
I have spoken to children and their families who have left or graduated the school and appreciate and miss it. The teachers do a good job from their hearts. Do you think they make huge salaries? While many of them have their flaws (we all do), they care. I feel my child is safe there, genuinely learning. Whoever it was who said the Parents Association does nothing, get your facts straight. Their charter is to do fundraising. Doing so in times where people are just glad to pay their bills, they do a dam good job at doing it. Its easy for us to sit behind a keyboard and be critical. If you pulled your kid from the school, move on. I agree the Principal and Assistant Principal are not perfect, are you trying to tell me they any of us are? I have my own criticisms of them, trust me. Its easy for us to say while not being in their shoes. I see criticisms that are unfair and untrue. If you plan to be critical, come up with solutions and suggestions. Remember, its about our kids. In the end I am glad my children are at Maria Regina. I have heard more than one child say how much they miss it when leaving. And how well prepared they are for higher education as they move on.
This school is full of flaws- the administration is awful- very phoney-and very hard to get a call back from. As far as education- I know many students that have to pay for private reading and math tutors because they are not getting enough help in school. Be skeptical of the rave reviews. These parents are probably on the parent assocoation which is run very poorly. My children have made good friends here, which is why I don't leave. Don't believe all the the things the school says it offers either- foreign language doesn't start until the upper grades and my kids don't bring home any artwork at all. I agree that the recess supervision is very poor- when I have volunteered I never see administration- the kids have NOTHING to play with- and very few parents show up for the amount of children. If a class doesn't have a parent volunteer- the school does nothing about it. They play in a parking lot with moving cars- Also- make sure you are not a minute late at dismissal- because your child will be let out of the building to wander in the parking lot- no teacher makes sure that a parent is picking them up-
Three of my children have attended MR. Like most things in life, the more you put in, the more you get back. I don't agree with all the policies and procedures the school adheres to, but I am very happy with the education they have received, the work ethic they have developed, and, most importantly, the caring and compassionate people they have become. MR was a sanctuary where my children were able to slowly mature, develop lifelong friendships and have their Catholic faith strengthened.
Maria Regina has given my children a foundation for the future by tesching values that will stay with them their entire life. It is like an extended family; everyone who works or teaches there is caring and nurturing. The Administration is wonderful. They are always willing to listen to you and help resolve issues. Their primary concern is your child's well being. I have never had an issue, but I know if I did I could go to the Administration and a reasonable solution would be found. I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a school that instills good Christian values. When your child graduates, they will have a solid foundation academically and spiritually!
I have had 4 children go through the school and am also an educator. In every school you will find parents who are not happy and would not be happy anywhere! The school IS caring and has wonderful administrators. The administrators just don't cater to all of the rediculous accusations some parents have...and thank goodness they don't! My children had a very positive experience and were very safe. They proceeded to go on to hich school and excell from the foundation they received. I would love to interview the children who graduated from this school and see how well they did. Negative reviews should be viewed with skepticism.
Maria Regina is an excellent school filled dedicated teachers and administers. The children are NEVER left unsupervised and the play area is safe. As for the parent(s) that made those comments they obviously will never be happy at any school if they feel it is wrong for kindergartens to walk a SHORT distance to the restroom by themselves. The principal and assistance principal are the most caring people anybody could ever meet. If you visit the school website (www.mariareginaschool.org) and click on the parent testimonials you will hear all the wonderful comments parents make.
The principal and assistant principal are the worst I have ever seen. They never return phone calls and don't listen to anything the parents say. Dropping children off in the morning is very unsafe, especially for preschool. The school is loaded with behavior problems and the good students suffer greatly. I agree with the other review- and my family will be searching for a new school. IT is a shame- for the amount of money we have to pay for a private school, things should be better. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.
This school is loaded with problems that come directly from a poor administration to a non-existent pastor. The school is very unsafe- children play in a parking lot with moving cars, classes at recess are left unsupervised if a parent volunteer doesn't show up, first grade kids have left the building and wandered outside, kindergartners are sent down the hallway to the bathroom by themselves....the list goes on. There is little discipline- my child was hit by another student and the school did nothing. Academically it is mediocre- sometimes my child doesn't have his reading group for days. I have noticed a lot of behavior problems in this school. I think they accept everyone to keep their enrollment up. Needless to say, I will not be returning next year.
My daughter just started high school and I have found that she was more than well prepared after going to Maria Regina for 10 years. The teaching staff is great and are really concerned for their students.
Fantastic school, a family extension for our children. Wonderful faculty and children alike.
A great school for all children. The theme of respect, responsibility and reverence is so appropriate...for the school truly embodies all three! From my children's early childhood experiences straight up through the grades it has been a wonderful experience for our entire family.
School doesn't discipline the problems children and the good kids pay the price. Know many families with lots of issues regarding this..very sad fact
It is my first year at this school and itis great. All kids are nice and fun. This school has great and you will love it.
