This is my daughter's 1st year at Briarcliff and I'm very happy with the school. She comes home excited & filled with new ideas. The principal is very hands on and the staff is very nice. In 2 years my son will be going to this school & I can't wait. The teachers are wonderful. I like how the kids are able to play & socialize with the other students. Some school do not even have toys in their classrooms. There is a time to learn & a time to play. It's a long day for them. Briarcliff balances how much time is spent learning & free time. That to me is very important. Remember parents it's only kindergarten.
My son attends Briarcliff, as an educator in a neighboring district I can say Briarcliff is ahead in teaching academics. The children are exposed to computers twice a week.My son completed the Spanish program as well. He has a great teacher who cares and loves to teach. We love the school!
Our child transferred out of this school in 1st grade. Briarcliff needs to focus on laying down a strong foundation of basics such as reading, writing and arithmetic before it attempts to branch out into 'fun' and 'innovative' extras such as 'writer's workshop'.
Briarcliff is Kindergarten and 1st grade. What I loved most about the school is the amount of exposure to new and interesting things including art & science. They have book fairs and lots of social events that the parents are encouraged to be a part of whether it's helping organize the event or just to see the children's socialization and progress. They are enlightened and encouraged everyday to be curious and to develop a love of learning. They are challenged and rewarded and celebrated and now that my son is going to the Wading River School I will miss Briarcliff, but I'm looking forward to 2009 when my daughter will attend.
