My daughter is graduating this year , we have nothing but good things to say about this school, from the teachers, staff, students, parents and the awesome PTA, , it's been nothing but great memories. my daughter has gotten a wonderful education, we will miss PS 60, but we have both made friends that we will stay friends with in middle school, my daughter is well equipped for the next phase of her journey, thanks to everyone at PS 60

My daughter is a first grade student at PS 60. I must say that I'm not happy with her teacher, who is mean and very strict. She uses outdated methods for discipline and yells at the kids for any reason. They have no class trips and don't go outside for recess. There are also no class parties of any kind. Moreover, I feel that sometimes the kids are being pushed too hard in order to conform to the crazy standards. My other complaint is that one of the assistant principals, Mrs R. is not helpful when approached with a question or a problem, and she is plainly rude. I like the principal, but the truth is she can't make up for all the bad teachers (there is quite few a heard) in this school. I'm giving this school 3 stars only because my daughter learned to read and write quite well, but on the other hand, I had to help her a lot with home works and preparation for all the tests they are administering so it's partially my accomplishment.

Class parents and very involved parents working with the PTA are what makes this school 'go round. They are nothing more than exceptional and could always use some school gratitude and appreciation.

The kids need the lunch period to relax and unwind. My son complains that they rarely have been outside. I do like the education they are receiving, although, my daughter has been is the school for two years and hasn't had music yet, which is important to me. I believe that the school is safe, and the teachers have been wonderful so far.

I think the school overall is o.k., but the children aren't being challenged enough. Except for the top class the children are all grouped together which leaves the teachers more challenged than the students. They need to be separated according to their learning ability after 2nd grade. Children are being left behind. They learn just what they need to know nothing more nothing less.

I'm a former p.S. 60 Student and overall, i have good memories. Most of the teachers were great and the lunch aides were very mean. We rarely went outside for recess and the school was too small for its poppulation. I loved all of my teachers. The school did not have any extra curricular activities, nor do most other nyc public elementary schools. I can assure you that after all of the practice for the standardized tests your child will be prepared! the school is very safe convenient and i received a solid education there.

My son graduated in 2007 from PS 60. Overall, I was happy with his education. He was in the 'top' classes which were not very challenging and had way too many students for the students to get the attention they deserved. He was truly afraid of the lunch aides as they were ridiculously strict and the children were seldom allowed to play during recess. PS 60 is a safe, clean environment and they do provide fun activities throughout the year for the students and also have a truly magnificent visual and performing arts program. Each year the student shows were even better than before!
