SHS is a very nice financially funded public high school. It offers a great sports program as well as academics but when it comes to teens that have learning disabilities the school lacks in that department. They do not have many choices/classes for teens that can not keep up with their grades due to learning difficulties. They quickly opt to send the child to BOCES instead of offering more special education classes for teens that have learning difficulties. I feel they are more worried about their image of being a school that has great funding because of student GPA's instead of truly trying to help children develope the skills they need to be able to keep up with high school curriculumns. They are just to quick to move a student to another school then try to help the student grow academically. This is a big disappointment.

Its a great school academic wise and athletic wise. Also Suffern has a wonderful music program, I just feel left out because of the minimal funding of the theater programs due to the lack of parental involvement. It used to be great and I would have loved to been there when it was so. Being a senior I have no reason to build it up. Our talent is dropping drastically after this year.

As a parent of 3 children with 2 already graduated and attending college, I would like to commend the faculty and administration of SHS. The quality of academic programs is equilvalent or superior to other schools in the metro area. For those students who choose to challenge themselves there are many AP courses to choose from, but also a varied list of electives for those students who want to round out their curriculum. Our extra academic programs such as Stir and Deca has been very successful and is highly regarded in the academic community. To compliment the academic programs is our music, art and sport programs. Our music programs graduate very talented and nutured musicians,as well as artists from our Art programs. There are many sport programs at SHS and we are a competitive force in the county in many of them. Parents are involved in all aspects at SHS.

Students are given a vast opportunity to find themselves academically and socially. The administration is top-notch and fosters a safe, enthusiastic and caring environment. The Faculty is top-notch and the academic reputation with Colleges is excellent. My daughter was a lost soul when she went in, and is now a confident, happy, and well-prepared senior seeking admission to selective colleges. This school nurtured that positive change in her.
