jowonio is an inclusive school for young children who learn the value of accepting other children with differences.

Posted January 10, 2013

My family and I have had an overwhelmingly positive experience with Jowonio. As an inclusive environment, they cater to children of all developmental stages and abilities. Most of the classrooms seem to have a strong focus on process rather than product (our experience has been in the Dragonfly Room) and pay a lot of attention to helping children communicate their thoughts and feelings. My son is being taught in a school where he sees children in wheelchairs, with walkers and with differing physical capabilities which I believe will help him to become an adult who will understand that physicality has so little to do with character and worth. This is something that is taught in many schools as a side note or in a 'different' classroom for 'different' people. Jowonio's staff seems to really care about allowing children to be children and finding a way to help them navigate this sometimes overwhelming stage of life.

Our daughters attended Jowonio. It was one of the best decisions we have ever as parents! The teachers are so dedicated and the environment is so loving and nuturing. Children of many races, backgrounds and abilities attend this school and are treated and taught equally!!! The children see one another simply as friends and not simply for what color or needs they might have. We will be forever grateful to Jowonio for instilling a sense of self and a sense of community!

My boys have received the security and warmth they need to take educational risks and grow! The individualized programming and attention is exceptional.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
