The curriculum is from the stone age as well as the teachers. There is little interest in change, with the atmosphere of teachers waiting to retire and collect their pensions. It's sad this is acceptable education for most of the parents around here.

Big expectations and savvy innovation in a small-town atmosphere. Teachers and staff very professional and very loving.

I have two children in the district both of who started in kindergarten and are now in the middle school. They have had an exceptional educational experience, both academically and socially. The curriculum is rich and varied. On the whole teachers have been excellent. As in the real world, there are less than stellar teachers and mean kids, as noted in the opinions below, but those are realities that I would like them to learn to navigate now with my guidance rather than later in life. My biggest criticisms are that homework is virtually nonexistent and the students needs to be held to a higher standard in areas like spelling regardless of what subject they are writing for.

My children have been in the T-burg school for sometime now and I am truly disgusted by the amount of bullying that goes on here and how the school seems to not realize the severity or the amount of it. I am also NOT impressed with the curriculum here it seems as though reading nor is spelling considered to be important.

T-Burg Elementary is a good school, with very strong participation by a wide range of parents. Some of the teachers are great. Others are average. The math curriculum is not consistently applied across grade levels. And compared to Ithaca schools, writing skills get rather little attention. Overall, the students are happy, and the school has a strong, positive feeling.
