This is the first year my two children, a 7-grader and a kindergartener, and I must say it has been a positive experience from day one. The staff has been visible and ready to accommodate in any way they can. The after-school 'Base Program' is very convenient to the working parents since it practically opens every school day. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they open even on the half-a-day school. I am not sure how things used to be, but the new principal, Mr. McMahon, has been rock solid in every step of the way. He is very approachable and involved, and you can tell that he cares about the children. They have different clubs that you can join at different time of the year. The Drama Club, Sports Base and the Newspaper Club are awesome. I would like to see more varieties in the lunch menus, however.

I love this school! I have an awesome teacher. His name is Mr. Petry and he is cool. He's not old like the other teachers in this cool. We also have a good principal. Mr. McMahon is great. He checks in on everyone everyday. Thats the way a principal should be. -Rachel

I am an 8th grader at this school and I have been there from nursery to now 8th. I have been there that whole time because i love it there and i can never find a better school then Holy Name of Mary. And the principal is one of my favorite people there. I got to know him very well and not only as a person but as a friend.

i am graduating this year and im soooo glad that i stayed. our new principal Mr. McMahon is amazing he is soo nice and caring and dedicated. he checks on us all the time and keeps the students on track. The only down part about the school is that the work isnt all that challenging but you WILL develop a family here and wont regret it!

Holy Name of Mary Parish School is a great place to educate your children. As a parent of two HNM students, I have seen great dedication from the teachers. They are very approachable, and they provide timely feedback regarding a student s progress. There is a great community spirit at HNM that makes the students and parents feel very welcome. There are many ways in which parents can provide service to the school, including morning duty, lunch service, hall service, or bingo service. There is also a Fall and Spring raffle dinner where school parents can win thousands of dollars. The school has a great Parent Club that organizes successful book fairs and student dances. The consistent support of the priests at HNM Parish Church ensures that your child will receive a faith-filled, Catholic education. The school s comprehensive web site, www.hnomschool.org, contains additional information.

I find Vicky's comment very innacurate. I have known many parents with their kids enrolled in Holy Name who have nothing but praise about this school. While it's true that they have half-day class ( once a month alloted for teachers conference) Parents are made aware of this via reminder letters coming from the principal and it is also published and duly noted on the SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR that is given to EACH student at the beginning of the school year to give parents ample time to arrange their schedule. I know this for a fact because I am also a working parent ( My kid is in Holy name of Mary School for over 7 years) I have nothing but praise about his school. The Teachers and the Principal are working so hard to educate the students both in Academics and religious life to become a wellrounded Christian/ Individual.

Holy Name of Mary is not very accommodating towards working parents! When I first interviewed with Holy Name of Mary, included in the school policy, I was told that an after school program would be available on announced half school days (which is once a month). The school currently has a Early Drop Off program starting at 7:30a.m. About 3 weeks into the school year the base program (after school program) was cancelled and a total of 2 to 4 half school days were added. The 7:30 a.m. Early Drop Off program opens late every day and on occasion the kids that arrive early are out in the rain and snow. I have found that the principal Mrs. Videola, is just impossible to speak and work with regarding this very important issue. On many occasions day and school closing are only announce 2 days before leaving working parents scribbling to fine a backup plan. Holy Name of Mary is not very accommodating towards working parents. After attending the open school session at Blessed Sacrament I felt Blessed Sacrament had more to offer the working parent.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
