Myers Corners is a wonderful place to work! I was intimidated at first by the size, but every one is very friendly throughout the grade levels. We are truly a community of colleagues and friends. Everyone works together and supports eachother. It is truly inspiring to be surrounded by teachers & staff that dedicate themselves fully to their students. I wish my kids could go to Myers!!
Great school for parents that would like to be involved in PTA but when it comes to serious manners I find the staff not really enforcing procedures and the policies they make.
I go there and everyone is freindly, but the school is falling apart and the food isn't that good but i've gone there since kindergatrten and my average is 93.40! This school has great educaters!!
Principal gail wehmann and assistant principal jay curtis are incredible at doing their job...They love and care for every single child in the school...They are out there every single morning (even in negative zero degrees temps) protecting our babies and greeting them with a big smile ..Bravo to you both for such outstanding leadership and love:)
This school is very large. If your child needs extra attention they most likly will not receive it unless you the parent pushes for it. You must constantly keep checking on how your child is doing. You need to question the teachers as to what extra work your child may need to keep up in class.
Myers is a great school with a friendly atmosphere. In general, the teachers are easily accessible and willing to work with parents. There is an active PTA. The assistant principal, Mr. Dubaldi, is strict, yet fair and caring. The school will miss him when he leaves! On the down side, the principal is a paper pusher with minimal contact with the children. There also seems to be a PTA fundraiser every other month, not including the bake sales! Considering how much money they have, it would have been nice if the PTA paid the $12 each so the 6th graders would get their yearbooks free, as they've done in the past.
You will not find a better elementary school in the State of NY. Myers has some of the finest educators you will ever come across. Each child is encouraged to bring forward their best. Each teacher's dedication to their profession is radiantly clear. Myers Corner has an extremely well taught cirriculum. These educators consistently build the confidence these children will need to suceed. Myers Corner is run under the supberb leadership of Mr. Memmoli and Mr. Dubaldi.
This school administration is for the birds. They refuse to address bullying. They want the child to come up with the punishment for another student. The staff doesn't want to know you either, they can be down right rude. Being there for just one year, they treated us as we were outsiders with a disease. There is no communication at all with the team of teachers that teach your children. The should stop the set up here for 6th graders, it should have never started back in 1977! The two principals aren't looking out for the kids-they are looking out for themselves and job security. They can't control the bad students-there were instances of behaviors that border crimal acts this past year and yet they allowed these students back to classes. The schools too big for them to manage. It's a totally wasted year.
I really feel the schoool is just over whelmed by the amount of students they have especially in the 6th grade. It is up to the parents to always check up on their children and ask lots and lots of questions. If more parents got involved maybe there wouldn't be so many problems with parents students and the staff at the school.
Though there are caring dedicated staff among the many (as this is a large school district), we have found that many decisions about whether to investigate and evaluate their special needs students properly, is clearly dictated - purely by economics. As a result, a misunderstood child would be expeditiously 'moved out', rather than parents seeing a sincere effort on the part of the administration to evaluate them properly. In short, our experience is that this district clearly abrogates their responsibility to evaluate special needs students in all areas of their suspected disabilities. As a result, students with unresolved problems and suspected disabilities, are left to flail and fail.
