This School far exceeds my expectations. Great School! My daugter loves tis school. Just move to the area and I couldnt believe how on hands these teachers are very motivated with a passion for teaching. Way different from the schools out in Brooklyn Queens and Staten Island Im so glad I did the research before making this move long Island can be tricky when looking for a good district having your home a few feet opposite of a invisable borderline can mean the difference of a good school or a bad school district. But reading these reviews I made it my bussiness to follow up and visit a lot of these school in this area so far the reviews are on point.

I was a student teacher at Santapogue last spring and was in awe of what I saw. Let me preface this by saying that I am no tyro, having worked as a teaching assistant in Freeport for 17 years. Not only is the principal more than dedicated to her charge, but I met one teacher after another that was excited about teaching! The tone of the school is very condusive to both academic and social growth.

Great School. Great teachers. The Principal works around the clock for the safety of the Santapogue children. My son just graduated in June. We both cried because we're going to miss both the Principal, and the awesome teachers he had from 1st grade on. I can highly recommend this School. My son had some learning problems in the beginning, but sure enough, with the after School tutoring he is an A student today! Thanks to the awesome teachers and Mrs. Levy for being totally devoted to educating our children, and most importanly, in a safe, and fun manner. If you're considering this School, you've made the right choice. Look no further! My son is an only child, and I want only the very best for him and at Santapogue, he had the very best teachers, the very best Principal. Overall, awesome in every aspect!

Santapogue elementary school is one of the best! The principal Mrs. Levy puts the safety of the children first. She is a genuine asset to our school. Our teachers are absolutely wonderful. All three of my children have enjoyed their years in Santapogue. Both Mrs. Levy and the teachers work very hard to educate our children. Besides classes, we have reading & math specialists, tutorials and other academic programs implemented for the benefit of our children. Our school is definitely for and about the children, as it should be. Well done!

I love Santapogue. I went to this school and all three of my kids will. my son is having a blast in the 5th grade. All the teachers are the cream of the crop! The Principal really does put the saftey of the children first. My daughter is learning so much in 3rd grade. All the hands on experiments and all the cultural arts programs make for a wonderful experience at school. I know my 1 year old will have a memerable time when she enters Santapogue. Thabk you for taking the time to look into this school. Believe me, you wont be dissapointed in choosing this school.

About the tests

Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, the New York State Department of Instruction implemented new assessments designed to be aligned with the Common Core State Standards. The new standards for proficiency in these subjects are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change. See this letter from New York's Commissioner of Education for more information on these changes.

In 2013-2014 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in Science. At present 2013-14 results are available only for English language arts and math. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.
