Teacher quality
Principal leadership
Parent involvement
This school is constantly asking parents for money. There is a lot of pressure to participate in a ridiculous amount of fundraisers, and working parents are made to feel guilty if they are not able to volunteer for various activities. The parents club at this is extremely cliquey, and alienate parents that don't live in the wealthy area that the school is located in. They essentially "run the school" while the ditzy principal thinks if's cute to run around acting like a child and patronizing the kids by talking to them in a baby voice. Just this past year, the hard earned money of the parents that always contribute to the incessant fundraising was wasted on unnecessary items such as a new awning and doormat for the back entrance of the school, rather than spent in an area that would benefit the education of thechildren. The teachers are mostly kind and helpful. There are a lot of efforts made to provide fun activities for the kids at school. But overall, don't waste your money.
As a current eighth-grader at St. Thomas, I've spent more than ten years of my life being enrolled there, and I do not regret it. Although in past years several teachers have come and gone, the middle school teachers have all been here for a fair amount of time, and I love them all. The sixth, seventh, and eighth grades are a growing time for students, with video-conferences, out-of-state trips, and exercises teaching you about yourself and others. I've made amazing friends here, and you won't regret sending your child here.
St.thomas is a great school, but teachers are always in and out of the school. The teachers are kind. There are very little extracurrcular activities. Our school is in a safe communitty, and the parents always help when the schoolis in need.
I'm a working parent and therefore am not able to be as involved in my Children's school activities as I'd liked to be. Nevertheless the impression I receive of St. Thomas Apostle School is one of action, action, action. My children are always involved in some activity that fosters research, artistic representation and enlightenment: all the while having fun! Great Teachers = Great School = Great kids.
