Not a great schoool in comparison to this generation's needs. curriculum is behind private schl academics & exposure, the test scores may be high for our area (compared to what...Harlem/bronx/catskills in ny?)But not nationwide, while the private sector is 2-3 years ahead in every way. Computers, art, and music are not taught with the same exposure - kids cannot play the instruments unless taken privately, art doesn't define strokes, artists/impressionists, abstracts, or instruct popular eras of art (just tie-die & silly crafts)whereas private schls in the elementary level are auctioning off their works of art in 4th grade! other computer classes are teaching 4-5th grades type at 40 words a minutes, establish email accounts viaschool, and teachers can email homework to encourage typing. We have no science lab...& No mandatory extra help;most kids in 2ndary tutoring after schl. Strawtown education in a bubble!

Strawtown is called 'the private school down the hill'. The students are polite, intelligent and guided by parents who are devoted to their education. The teachers are extremely well educated and are exceptional educators. The parents are very involved in the school. Strawtown offers assistance to students who need help with speech, and it also has an outstanding and rigorous program for very gifted children. I have never encountered a public school as outstanding in every respect as Strawtown Elementary! The students truly are lucky to attend a school of this caliber in which the students and parents are able to enjoy some of the best teachers in the U.S. Finally, the principal is warm and approachable, and the test scores are always extremely high.

Music, art, sports, and library media specialist is also available. a surplus of extracurricular activites are given. PTA has a huge following which gives this school a special 'family feel' to it. Parents are activitely participating and supporting all aspects of education. Strawtown is an excellent school for studnets to attend.
