Blue Rock School

Blue Rock is an amazing school. Not for everyone, but definitely the perfect place for some students. The children are nurtured and encouraged to learn via direct experience: science is taught with hands on activities, like battery building; students form books clubs to discuss literature; and math is used in service of constructing the fastest, most durable, go-carts. Our children have thrived there, they are both reading and doing math and science at or above grade level. And, they have accomplished this without the stress of standardized testing. Our family is so grateful to have found a haven where children can learn, grow and where the curiosity and the innocence of childhood is respected. My kids wake up happy and wanting to get to school early every day -- for us that says it all.

I am so grateful for Blue Rock School, its integrative, whole child philosophy, its kind and creative teachers, and its beautiful buildings and grounds. My children know how to think, solve academic problems and learn from a conceptual perspective coming at learning from many different angles. The most beautiful element of the school is that each child is respected for who they are individually, and dynamically as a whole. Childhood is preserved, honored and celebrated at Blue Rock School.

Many children reading well below grade level. Math instruction is almost non existent. Expect to hire a tutor, even for children with above average capability. Anti-intellectual environment. Teachers, administration and staff without any credentials. Learning disabilities go undetected. Normal children are "diagnosed" with disabilities they don't have by staff wholly unqualified to do so. Many parents pull their children out after a few years with a lot of anger. Green Meadow is a better choice.

Wonderful school where creative thinking is encouraged. After her first few years in the public school system where she became increasingly bored and disinterested, our daughter is once again curious, eager to learn, and most importantly, happy to go to school each day. They have a very hands-on approach and the kids are actively engaged as participants--as opposed to passive listeners-- in all lessons.

We love Blue Rock! The teachers are all wonderful - very warm and caring and incredibly intuitive. They manage to work with each child at their own pace and the students really enjoy going to school! We also love the small classes, which is one of the big reasons we chose Blue Rock! My son is thriving there and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful environment for their children!

Blue Rock is a wonderful place where children can learn in an warm, creative environment. Classes are kept intentionally small and the teacher/student ratio is great. The academics are challenging, yet the material is offered in an innovative way, which really holds our children's attention. The graduates aren't burnt out at a young age and go on to a variety of high schools - public, prep and alternative. The most important elements of their education is that they love learning and are given the opportunity to become independent thinkers.
