Teacher effectiveness: Strongly disagree

- a parent
Judging by the school supply list alone of sending in 5 boxes of 24-ct crayons and 80 pencils each child seems very excessive and implies to me that they are not teaching our children to better look after their items. Other elementary schools in same district only suggests 1 or 2 boxes of crayons and 36 pencils tops. Sounds like BG first grade teachers are not very effective working or teaching kids with less school supplies.

Amount of homework: Disagree

First grade homework entails 1 math page ( of 6-8 questions) from Go! Math workbook and kids read 15 mins each night (but you will have to go borrow books from library or buy them; no books are allowed to be borrowed from classmroom b/c teacher fears it will not be returned). My child had more homework in kindergarten compared to first grade.

For a public elementary school, bowling green has a good curriculum, teaching staff and overall experience.
