I am embarrassed to say that I graduated from Wilson HS. For the most part, the teachers conveyed the info well and the education was decent, but that is something that can be found at any average high school. Students at this school are extremely mean and materialistic, out to socially and psychological harm those that they feel are "beneath" them. The teachers know this very well too, but choose to do nothing about it and just turn their backs. I watched many fellow classmates suffer with depression as a result, and dealt with it myself to a degree. Teachers are not just there to instruct but to facilitate student growth and development. The teachers at WHS do not even care. Allowing this kind of environment is unacceptable even by public school standards. There is also a major drug problem in this school. WHS may get all the praise because of their high graduation rates, but what good is a statistic when so many children are forced to go to a place that they emotionally dread? School should be a fun social environment where children/teens can learn and prepare for adulthood. WHS is anything but that. I would never, ever send my child to this school or even live in Wilson.

The school does have some good teachers and well rounded students. They do not offer a challenging curriculum, which may be contributing to some of the recent problems.

The school and Sr. Leadership are exemplary with the only notable exception being that they sometimes fail to detect or cope with some poor teacher performance or attitudes. Following some recent negative headlines, teachers have banded together to not support some extracurricular activities, which has hurt student moral, all as a misplaced show of solidarity. The teachers and students can be quick to judge, but in the end, the education and exctracuricular activities are excellent. There are serios drug issues in the young community, but these are everywhere in the country today. The difference is that in a small town like Wilson, it is easy to see who does drugs and some parents seem to not care or they are too afraid of offending their kids to do anything about it. Education - excellent Administration - inspired Local acceptance of outsiders - needs improvment

Wilson HS has it all: incredible teachers, incredible students, an incredible sports program, and incredible music/art programs. If you add in the great community and all of its immense support, you won't find a better school around.

Wilson High School is the best school in the county, as well as one of the best in the state. The education received there is amazing. Comparing the education there to private institutions fellow classmates have gone to, it exceeds expectations. All of the teachers know what's going on in other classes and around the school. WHS is a very good high school overall and provides its students with some unique opportunities as well as a great education.

I remember sending my daughter here. We had just moved from Maine, and it was a hard transition. If you are moving from a school in state, I can guarantee that it will be an easy transition. The teachers and principal make you feel very welcome, and they are helpful in every sense of the word. If you have a good student who you know isn't involved in drugs, you have no need to worry. Just keep your eye out when your child is attending this school.

This school is quiet possibly the worst school I have ever encountered in my day. The administration appears to have no control what so ever over the student body. The teachers approach towards is the classroom lesson is more or less a very 'abstract' approach. In fact soo much so that a large majority of the body is doing poorly in most subjects. As for the caliber of person who staffs the school, they have absolutely 0 regard for what they are doing or who they are dealing with. It is as if they do not even bother to screen who they are hiring. In a word, Wilson is one of the worst schools on all levels that I have encountered. I would definitely not feel safe sending my child to this school district.
