i have gone to this school for the past four years of my life and i am now accepted to Howard University on a full scholarship. I have passed all of my NYS regents with mastery or close to it. I could not have imagined myself going to any other school and still have the moral backing and strong sense of determination that i do today. WMHS has greatly improved over the years and does not still deserve the negative reputation that you critics are so reluctant to drop. Let go of your current close-minded view of this school and open your eyes; embrace the reality of today, i promise you'll like what you see.

The principal and vice principal are fantastic and motivators for change and excellence. Many of the teachers at Wyandanch are excellent and hold multiple certifications including Phd.s in education. Mr. Robinson has an outstanding chorus and is working towards a doctorate as well. There is a lot to be offered at the school. Motivation to learn is being worked on.

I've witnessed a major change in this school. our grades are increasing, more students are on honor roll, and hardly any violence occurs. I've been attending this school from freshmen year, now I'm a junior.

I left Wyandanch High in 2006 and that shool is the worest school u can ever go to. Young people like it because we can do what ever we wanted to and no one really cared.

I have never seen a school more grossly neglected in my entire life. I moved to the Suffolk County area from another state, and was totally appalled at the condition of this school. The curriculum is below standard, the morale is lacking, and the children are vicious. There are some wonderful teachers in this school, but unfortunately, they re in a situation that has no prospect for improvement to the point where a number of them have lost their own zeal for teaching. If you can help it do not send your children to this school. I left the area just to get my child away from this school.

Sure, the level of parent involvement could be better. But for the most part it is improving. Administration is doing a lot better. Things are moving in the right direction. It's very easy to point out problems in any school district. Test scores are going up. Students are gaining skills needed to survive in college and the workforce. Also, the students make video commercials that are better than most of the nonsense on TV. Thumbs up for WMHS, good job to the students and Principal Hodge for doing the right thing and staying away from politics. Keep moving in the right direction.

At WMH (Wyandadnch)the parent teacher level is hardly no commincation. The school needs to be revamped starting with the school Administration,Teachers, then students. The sports needs more support from Adm&parents! Haven't seen any music classes(chourus, band)

I am a parent who once attended this school.I am deeply appauled and ashamed how it has turned out. Metal detectors in a school pretty much says it all. Even though I live in this county I would not recommend this school. The elementary school is okay. It goes up to 5th grade. The middle school and the high school are terrible. I wish the state would just take over. Parents are not involved at all and this is through experience.

This school needs improvement in all areas. The state needs to visit this school district,I know there has to be several violations, the kids should not have to be subjected to open ceiling areas due to leaks and roaches and mice that an exterminator can control with regular visits. school lunch should not be breakfast foods.

In Wyandanch Memorial High School there is a community based organization which is SNAP Long Island's(W.A.P.P.P.)program which sponsers Parent workshop at lease every other month. They cover an array of topics which are of concern for parents(contact:Alita Hall, 631-491-4052.There is also a new parent involvement group in the High School. It is the brain child of Ms. Baines, a current board member. The two groups work together and/or support each other in the pursuit to inform and empower the parents in the community. Under the new leadership improvements have begun.
