I am happy with the Montessori learning,My childrens are doing well and reading above theirs grade levels. My concern is that since 2009 I see the school state test scores going down. I really hope Montessori 31 can pull up their state test scores levels back up. If not they will have to take a good look and see what went wrong and fix the problems.

I am very happy with this school. I am pleased with my childs progress and the way that he is taught. I love the Montessori way and highly recommend this school.

I sent my child to Montessori School 31 for prek and k and I felt that my child excelled in these classes. However, the school does need improvements in the higher grades. They need to bring in more qualified teachers that can teach the upper classes; so, the children could have a good education which is lacking at this time. I did hear that the school will be going through changes in September with a new administration. I would hate to see the school not improve. They do have some great teachers that give their time to the children.

Do not send your child to this school!! The problems with the non-teaching staff are too great to numerate. The principal does not understand the younger children

This school used to be rated as an 8 by great schools and was downgraded to a 4 based on one years bad exam results. Makes no sense to me. Out son has flourished in this school. Teachers are very committed. The school appears to use a 'hybrid' Montessori system with a focus on the 3 Rs over and above the creativity and independence instilled by the Montessori system. Our son used to go to a Montessori private school. When he recently attended a kids birthday from that school I was able to observe that he was way ahead of those kids. All in all, a great school.

My daughter started Pre-k in September and I love the school, the teachers are great too. She has a teacher and a full time aide in a class of 25. Music, art, gym and library are visited at least once a week. She's really getting a great start, starting to read and write and she's 4!

For Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children this is not a very good school, my son was in a pre-k clas of 25 children with one teacher and one part time teachers aide. The teacher may have been a good teacher (I could not tell she was extremely overwhelmed) but this school has too many strikes against it. Do not even think of sending your child to this school.

My son attended Montessori 31 s pre-k last year. I thought he would be learning at his own pace and thus chose that school. I found my son being rushed to meet other children s skills and abilities. I found that the quality of instruction and even the classroom appearance were not the same for bilinguals.

We are new to School 31 and are so pleased with Dr. Braio, the staff and teachers, the PTA also provides great activities, and there is such a big parent involvement I am thrilled that the school goes to 6th and looking forward to the proposal of an academy for the three schools 11,31,and 27.. Keep up the great work.

My children are thriving at Montessori School 31. They are getting a great education and I am very pleased. Art and music classes are a part of my children's everyday routine. I hope the school will provide more after school activities in the future. Parents, teachers and the principal are very involved. It feels like a home environment. I only wish the school would continue to 8th grade.

I am very pleased with the progress my child has made at this school. It's a small, intimate setting, there is a real feeling of family there. The PTA is very active and there is always an interesting extra-curricular activity going on to complement the curriculum. My daughter is thriving in the Montessori environment. She is extremely self-motivated, which is thoroughly supported by the program at 31. It is a real Montessori school, not just Montessori for marketing purposes. My daughter has had phenomenal teachers so far (she is entering third grade). They are all well-trained, knowledgeable and caring. It is a happy, academic environment. In addition, the standardized test scores in this school are competitive with neighboring, well-known school districts with better reputations.

A dedicated school putting focus on the children where it should be. Advanced academic programs. For example my first grader is learning things that other 3rd graders are learning in other schools. It has been a wonderful experience to be a part of this school and beside academics they never forget about having fun. Activities all year round more than any other school I have seen. There are lots of unique activities with lots of unique people working in this school and that is what makes School 31 special.

I have two children in montessori 31, and I couldn't be happier. The staff and administration go out of their way to make it a great place to learn and grow. Thanks Dr. Braio, Ms. Lyle, and Mrs. Bordes in particular for making my kids love school.

As a parent of a child still attending this school I must say I am extremely pleased about the academic education. I have to say I was very nervous about placing my child in the Yonkers Public School system as part of the White Minority. My daughter has learned to read in Pre-k and just loved her teacher. I hear so many great things about other teachers as well. I am happy that a 6th grade was added. I wish it it would go to 8th. Also, my daughter has learned so many things about others, including tolerance and self respect. I truly believe in its philosophy and the no stress atmosphere.

Montessori 31 has the best teachers and administrative staff I have witnessed in a school program. Overall, I am very pleased with the education my son is receiving at this elementary school. The best in Yonkers!
