Pulaski is great. My kids have excelled beyond my expectations. All the teachers are phenomenal and I can't say more good things of our PTA. They are all about the kids, always thinking what they can do next to make some money for the kids. I don't think I have any negativity towards the school, just maybe to yps in general. I feel they need to step up and start worrying more about the kids...example, taking away Easter vacation? Really now come on...Jews get their Passover off. We should be having out Easter days off which included Holy Thursday and holy Monday. Some things with Yonkers I will never agree with!
Greetings Everyone! I've been reading everyone's comments and all have been helpful, although I have been getting mixed singles with some postings. But I'm thinking of relocating to Yonkers and I'm a bit unfamiliar with choosing the right, safe neighborhoods for my two boys and not to mention I'm a bit limited because I don't have a car. I'm looking for low income rental so I figured I would base majority of my apartment search on or near a good middle school, although I have one child in college and the other in middle (nuts)..But how is the living area around Pearls Hawthorn school or any neighboring schools? And if anyone know if colleges are near as well that would be great as well.. Any suggestions or resources are welcome...
I can't say enough good things about Pulaski, besides the wonderful, heartfelt teachers, we have an amazing PTA and an awesome office staff. Mr. Curtis and Ms Honeywell are as good as it gets. I made the best descision ever, sending my children here, to think I was almost willing to pay for the catholic school and here I am at one of the best Yonkers public school there is. If you are seriously thinking of the catholic schools, you should think twice and come and check out our school, if you want to transfer into our school, get on the waiting list now!
This school is the best you can find! The teachers have the best attitude. especially Diaz , O'Gorman, Sapra , the top teachers and there is plenty more. plus the one change the school has made is Not good.
The PTA is the best. They provide enrichment programs for all the children. They advocate for the children. They keep parents informed so that parents can attend rallies and advocate for their children.
This school isn't that great. The PTA is the worst. My suggestion to all the parents is not to put your child in this school. Although the principal and the vice principal are okay, the parents are extremely dis-likable and display bad behavior in front of other children. I am transferring my own kids after this year.
I think this school is awesome my daughters have been going there going on 5 yrs. There uniform policy is great and enforced by staff. The P.T.A. is the greatest they do so much for the students. The teachers are so caring and they love what they do especially Mrs.Koppe,Mrs.Diaz and Ms O'Gorman. The office staff are also great Mrs.Bucci can run the school all by herself if needed.Mr Curtis and Mrs Honeywell know every students name which is hard to do when there are 576 students. If you are looking for a public school for your children to attend but want a strict, friendly learning school you have found it.
My daughter has attended Pulaski school since she was in Pre-K, and is now in 3rd grade. I m very happy with the school, but will say that could be better. They could enforce tougher rules towards uniforms, and proper dress code. I feel that yes, most of the kids wear the uniform, but much of the older kids wear the school colors, but not in the appropriate manner.
Pulaski is still a good school but there have been changes this year that some parents are not happy about. The teachers are great but the one change made to administration makes a big difference for the school. The school was fine the way it was. Lets see what happens next year.
The administration, faculty and staff and the best of the best. The children enjoy going to school and learning. Its really and terrific school.
The school is run as if it is a private school. A real family enviroment. The teachers are friendly and terrific. The principal is amazing and is aware of everything going on. He knows all the childrens names as well as their parents. The A.P. is very kind. Very mothering to the children. The children for the most part are well behaved. My children have excelled so much since we moved them there. We will all be so sad when they graduate and have to leave.
casimir pulaski school is hands down one of the best elementary and middle school in yonkers. I've been going to this school since I was in Pre - K and I must say that its been an excellent experience. The teachers are GREAT, and the education here is fantastic! Thumbs up for Mr. Kreps, Mr. Thomas, Mrs. Evans, and Ms. O'Gorman, you're the best! I am currently in 6th grade.
My Daughter started Pulaski last year and she loves it. I think the entire staff deserves a thumbs up. The Principal is wonderful and very deicated to makimg this school Great. A Special thumbs up to Mrs. McPhillips for caring about the students and always keeping a smile on her face! By far, the best public elementary school in this area.
Casimir Pulaski is the best i am currently in 7th grade and this will be my 4 th year in pulaski. The teachers are the best! Shout out to Ms. Piccoli, Ms. O'toole, Ms. Castellano, Ms. Stavrou, Mr. Thomas etc. I defintley recommend this school. It is a great school no wonder its #1!
I like the way the school is runned, it is a well attendced school. and there is alot of parent involvement
My son attended catholic school for 2 years but due to behavior issues had to transfer over to public.... was I NERVOUS! He started 1st grade in February and I am just so happy with this school. His teachers are great - I really like them, I think they have helped him immensely and they are just nice people! The principal is also great! Very nice school
I just graduated from Pulaski in June 07. I have been with Pulaski for 5 years. I love all the teachers. The 8th grade teachers were amazing and they helped all of us get ready for high school. The teachers trough my 5 years there were all amazing. We have all achievied another level of grades. The test scores have been going up. The only problem is that the 7th and 8th grade math teachers arent always great. We had many many teachers over the 2 years in Math. But overall it is Perfect!
I love the school! The entire staff is wonderful including the new principal who started the '06-'07 school year. The school now goes up to the 8th grade which is wonderful. The only thing missing is an after school program and that would make the school awesome! Thumbs up to Pulaski! We miss you Mr. 'D'
Teachers are excellent. Principal has completely turned the school around, very dedicated and enthusiastic. Knows most of the students names. Scored grtr than 95% in ELA and math this year. Needs more parental involvement, with it could really be great.Very limited art and music hopefully increasing. Becoming an international baccalaureate program.
This school is amazing, compared to the other elementary schools in Yonkers, it is off the beaten path as it is away from constant traffic and outside interferences, the teachers are great, they are available to speak with parents whenever. the classroom sizes are about 18 kids per class or less. The leadership is excellent, they expect nothing but the best from the students. My daughter is in 3rd grade and she is excelling with great stride, it so great that she has been tested by John Hopkins University for the Talented Youth when she was in grade 2 and her performance was in the 45 percentile compared to kids in the 4th grade. My hat goes off to them.
