Crompond has been nothing but a great experience. My son has Mrs. Kivel. I can not express how much he loves her! She is a phenomenal teacher that cares! She is up to date with innovation and technology, using it to the best of the children's advantage. She knows where education is headed! The principle Mrs. Roberts is delightful and is very welcoming.

It is a really great school. I have nothing but great experiences with the principal and the teachers. There is plenty of parent involvement. In fact I have had more parent involvement in Crompond than in any other school my kids have attended. It is all that I expect from an excellent school and more!

Crompond has an excellent environment for children. The teachers are very dedicated to their students. It all begins through the dedication of the principal, Dr. Feldman. He is very involved with his students, teachers and parents. The PTA is also very involved in communicating with parents and the community. Their music and arts activities have a great impact on the students. The teachers make these programs fun and educational. I as a parent am very pleased that my children were and will be part of this school.

The school does a fantastic job on children who need remedial reading and math. The staff really works with the students.

About the tests

Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, the New York State Department of Instruction implemented new assessments designed to be aligned with the Common Core State Standards. The new standards for proficiency in these subjects are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change. See this letter from New York's Commissioner of Education for more information on these changes.

In 2013-2014 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in Science. At present 2013-14 results are available only for English language arts and math. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.
