This is an extraordinary school, which provides superb education through the 6th grade. Our child has attended the pre-school program, Kindergarten and the Junior Class (grades 1-3), and has always been given individual, caring, loving attention and the absolute best in education.
The teachers are all deeply schooled in the Montessori philosophy, and all are particularly gifted in their ability to inspire the children, and encourage their progress both in the areas where they have strength and in the areas where they need special attention.
Unlike most present-day schools -- public as well as private -- the school has rich offerings in language (Spanish, French, Arabic, etc.) and culture. For example, a high point of the academic year is the annual French show, which engages students at all grades in music, art, dance, drama, food and culture generally. Elective programs in music, dance, chess, etc. are targeted to students at all grades. At the holiday season, our child came home singing the festival songs of many countries and cultures in 5 different languages!
Our child loves the school, loves to learn, reads, writes and performs arithmetic well above grade. This is not a school that teaches to the examinations, and the end result -- universally -- is that the children have a love for learning and are, in most instances, well ahead of their peers in other schools.
There will always be one or two parents or students, in every school, who find the program unappealing or even unacceptable. If you are considering a school for your youngster, come in and sit in on a few classes! Generations of happy parents and children cannot be wrong.
