My school is decent. Not all students are treated fairly and equally. The staff preaches that to us but they don't follow their own law. Some teachers grade papers harshly and they don't recognize hard work. A lot of the teachers think they are our age and backtalk us and disrespect us. For some reason we "have to respect them." Well, respect is earned not given. You have to give it to get it. Some teachers are genuinely nice and I like them. An example would be Mrs. Knight in 8th grade. Overall this is an okay school. You can learn at your own pace, but if you fall behind, don't expect teachers to help you. As long as you aren't absent a lot, you can survive the 3 years.

Hardly ever is there homework sent home or is there a test to study for. Teachers give students ISS for shooting paper because it falls into the category of bullying. Not too sure if this school should be operating.

I have met the rudest and most immature faculty at McGee's. Not saying everyone is a sorry excuse for a teacher, but I will say it is a shame that you can not fire teachers for intimidating and ostracizing students. It blows my mind to see my brother and his friends get home and be void of all human emotions because their teacher has drained them of life. If you don't like children, and you can't deal with kids who aren't perfect zombies who sit in silence everyday, THEN FIND A NEW CAREER!! NEWS FLASH: nobody is going to sit still and listen to you be ignorant when they're young and full of new hormones. Simple as that.

Monthly calendars are sent home that post every event that involves the school. I take these home and my family puts them on the refrigerator so that we can stay involved.

Coming from an elementary school that was very good at communication, I am disappointed with the communication at McGee's. There is simply none! Academically, my child is doing fine, but he is not up to his capability and I see no one at McGee's pushing him to do better. Maybe they are, but again with the lack of communication, I just have no idea!

I had 2 children attend this school and they both had a wonderful middle school experience. They were well prepared for high school and have been successful there. I believe, as with any educational experience, that their success was directly related to the effort that they put forth. One of my children is a Senior this year and her most favorite teacher is one of the excellent teachers at McGee's.

The Principal at this school is not involved with the kids at the school and is either in the office or out and leaves the 2 Assistant Principal's or the 1 guidance counselor to talk with the students and parents. I came from VA were the school encouraged parent involvement and here the parents are treated like outsiders.

Coming from PA, it makes me sad that this brand new school is so antiquated. The busing is insane. Unless you are able to provide after school pick-up for activities it is impossible for your child to participate as there are no after school buses, this goes for sports or class help. The only parental involvment (the whole district) that they truly want is for proxy's for testing. You are allowed (by state law) to go and have lunch with your child, but they don't want you there. Not a friendly environment.

Teachers do not know how to deal effectively with middle school age students. Both teachers and students have attitudes toward each other. Academics do not hold students interests. School Staff make parents feel inferior. Staff does not listen to the students.
