This school used to be a boot camp for troubled boys. It has tried to pull itself up but to no avail. The staff and administration demonstrated time and again a lack of knowledge and sophistication in the therapeutic field. I agree that they were disrespectful of the family as a unit, and showed no respect for us as parents. Our son's negative behaviors escalated while he was there. The academics were below grade level. When he left he kept in touch with kids who had been there with him, and they were all continuiing to struggle with negative behaviors and parental conflict. And all of this cost $80,000 a year. I don't recommend this school.

My 12 y.o. son had had one suspension from public school after another. Then he was placed in a learning disabled special ed program in the public schools that did not fit him; he felt miserable. Stone Mountain School has offered him a new life, a new way of looking at himself, a chance for him to be successful. I admire the staff. They are clearly dedicated people who are always willing to reach for something better. My son is growing there.
