I do not think that bladenboro primary school is very organized or helpful. The staff is usually confused about what to do.
Its a wonderful place to go to school. Its a wonderful place to work and we work as a TEAM thanks to Mrs. D. Guyton... We are like a wonderful family.
I am the parent of a fourth grader. At the end of his third grade year I feel that the children were being taught the end of grade test. At the beginning of this year he was expected to know math that they had gone over very quickly for a week at the end of the previous year. This year I feel that problems with grades and school work should be identified with correspondence other than mid-term progress notes if the child's grade is in trouble and that is not being done.
I do not like this school. There are a few good teachers, the rest play favorites with other teachers and family members children. The kids are given more homework than anything, expecting parents to do the most teaching. There are more than 13 kids per teacher, more like 20 in each class. They pressure the kids to read to much I think, at least two tests per week on books. My daughter comes home from school and has to spend at least two hours on homework and she's in the second grade.
My child is currently in the 3rd grade and she has loved every year at this school. This school is doing a wonderful job at teaching students the curriculum and encouraging students to go farther.
I think the 'No student left behind' is a joke. It is making learning harder than it has to be. Not all students get the same punishments - with someone who does not judge before knowing the whole story. They have some great teachers - let them do their job - and give them support from both parents and faculty members. Parents need to volunteer and help out whenever they can. Working together with the child helps the child more than you think. Even if just reading for a few minutes at night. Teachers need our help as much as we need them.
I am a parent. My son is now in 4th grade. I detest this school. They are not kid oriented. They are there to teach, but at the same time, make learning fun. Problem kids would be less of a problem if they could spark and interest. My son is very smart, he can do the work, but is not interested, he is bored. They do not challange him and expect him to learn in humdrum.
