Parkway Elementary School is an excellent school with a great reputation, incredible teachers who care, involved parents with a good PTO, a very caring principal who goes out of her way, and impressive athletic teams (boys basketball 2011 and girls volleyball 2011 #1) and performing arts programs (Aladin 2011 was incredible). Before we came to Boone, we would have had to look at a private school to get this kind of quality education. Thank you to everyone involved with Parkway Schools!!
This elementary school has high academic results and the teachers are long term career educators and most are true practicing Christians.
Parkway school always has fundraiser (which are awesome) and things where parents are welcomed. Parkway's level of learning for students is very high. I would give it a 8 or 9 out of 10. All grades have fun ways of learning. what ever class you are in you are learning even in gym class. PARKWAY IS AWESOME!
Parkway is the best school! The teachers are phenomenal! Most have their National Board Certification and teach the children in fun, creative ways! The administration is caring and pro-active and the parent groups are extremely involved.
I, as many parents, anticipated my child's entry into the academic world with excitment. I couldn't wait to see what my child would be. Would she be a social butterfly? Would she be shy? Would she be scholarly? I had no idea that entering Parkway school would mean that I would lose my child to a system that is way too hung up on hanging a banner proclaiming their excellence and not on helping my child be the best at who she is. You see Parkway School thinks they are a 'School of Excellence'. I beg to differ. There are no children at Parkway School, only robots who must conform to a rigorous routine of suiting a system that leaves no room for a child to be who they are and is leaving them all behind. It is a sad situation when banners mean more than children.
Parkway School is an excellent school! The administrators and teachers truly care about our children. Academically, Parkway ranks as one of the top schools in our county and state. Parkway is a North Carolina School of Excellence because of its academic excellence. It is also a 'School of Excellence' for our family. Thank you, Parkway School, for having the highest academic expectations for our children and for believing and caring about them. What a wonderful school for children to attend!
Parkway is a wonderful place for a child to attend school. My child is in the third grade at this time and he loves coming to school. The teachers are warm and caring and they treat each child as if they were their own. There is a warm family atmosphere around the entire school. The school is also a School Of Excellence. If you ask me , What could be better. My child is getting an awesome education in a family atmosphere.
My children go to Parkway and I am really disappointed in this school. My husband and I work all day and almost every week we have some kind of project to do with our children. Learning should be fun and I am all for helping children with homework but this is getting ridiculous, not to mention costly. I ask my children what the class did in school and I hear about parties for this and that. Parent accountability is one thing but working on projects that can easily be done in class is another. Cut down on the parties and spend that time on class work so parents can spend the limited time they have with their kids on more than just homework or projects. Some times we just want to have time to go out and play or sit and talk.
Being that my daughter transfered from a smaller school before attending Parkway, we noticed that the children in her grade level are not as friendly and there is some bullying, which was not the case at the smaller school. I think the school is too big, so in turn causes teachers not to be able to recognize the students who are bullying.
Parkway School is a great school overall. There is a need for more sensitive approach to students who otherwise are not financially priveleged. There needs to be a seperate middle school because the middle school student has very different developmental needs.
