I feel Brevard Academy has influenced my children well. The teachers are caring and knowledgable. The students are well behaved and are taught respect for each other as well as the staff. Because it is a small school, the children are well instructed and active physically. You do have to provide transportation and lunch, but you know what they are eating and who they are with. My children are respectful and kind. They mentor other children there and the music program is the best. We are starting this year with a new Principal and hopefully she will continue to make positive changes. It is like having a free private scholl here in Brevard. The Core Curriculum is good as the children learn in various areas the same things. Social Studies and Language Arts work together and even Art, Science and Music are incorporated. A great school!

I am so thankful for BA! My children love it and truly appreciate the natural beauty and small class size. We tried the big elementary school, and are so thankful for this option. What a special thing to have a 'private school' experience (family atmosphere and involved parents) for free in Brevard!!!!!!! We really feel blessed to have taken a 'leap of faith' and to have 'gone down the road less traveled' to find this school for our children through 8th grade!!!

I Love this school. The teachers and pricipal are excellent. Everyone at this school is very caring. My children have learned alot. This school is almost like a family. They strive to educate children and at the same time care for your child. You are not just another number at Brevard Academy. Every one is someone there.

I have been very pleased with Brevard Academy. The class sizes are small and the teachers are well qualified. The Principal, Al Evans, has demonstrated his knowledge of leadership and academic excellence. The children are well behaved and treated with respect, which in turn leads them to be respectful of others. The curriculum is very well thought out and seems to be a good choice. The parents are very active and involved. They have adequate physical activities that promote a healthy lifestyle, but I would like to see more extracurricular activities for the younger grades . My children have done well at this school and enjoy their time in school. All personnel at this school are caring and knowledgeable about children and their needs. I feel this is a great choice and will lead to children that are responsible, caring and well educated.

I cannot rate this school as progressing as the community had hoped. Although they do offer the programs mentioned, not all students are eligible or encouraged to participate. I believe that this is just a 'Marketing Tool' to attract new students. My children began attending BA when they were in Kindergarten. Fortunately, they were in the hands of good teachers each year. However, my children and many other students have left in the past because the teachers were inexperienced. Charter Schools are not required to have Certified Teachers until the 2005-2006 school year. Therefore, teachers without any training or experience are allowed to teach children during their formative years, particularly K-3. These inexperienced teachers barely receive any guidance from the Administration. I believe this is because the school is not organized effectively. The Administrator is responsible for too many duties. See Evergreen Charter School in Asheville for a better example.

Brevard Academy strives for high academic achievement. Along with that my child enjoys being at school every day. She gets the attention needed to succeed because of the small class size and the dedication of the faculty and staff. The Outdoor Education program is unique to this area as it not only teaches about 'flora and fauna', students are encouraged to take on challenges such as whitewater rafting, mountain climbing and rappelling, and learning to survive in these mountains. Self esteem is high in the general student population, and parental involvement is a common theme at Brevard Academy. The Music program and Theatre Arts programs are quite strong as is the Information Technology course. Each year this young school sends eighth grade students on to high school not only prepared but ready to excel in their future academic career.
