The school made a complete turnaround in just one school year, 2008-2009. I recently was informed that the school made high growth and AYP status. The principal is much more strict than anyone was accustomed to, but his results speak for themselves.
I feel that the school is now moving in a positive direction since the new administration came onboard during the 2008-2009 school year. Students are in uniform, the school has very few discipline issues, a new PTO, and much needed structure. In addition, the teachers seem to genuinely love working with kids. The administration is working hard to make the school a wonderful place.
I am proud to work at Burgaw Middle School. The staff is dedicated, the administration is focused on student success through their leadership, students are focused on learning and parents are supportive and dedicated to improving the image of the school.
burgaw middle is a OK school. the teachers work hard but the principal im not so sure about. i really am dissapointed at the principal.
