Burlington Day School provides an academically challenging opportunity in an safe and nurturing environment. The teachers teach beyond "testing standards". They make the students want to learn! Enriching field trips and outside experiments make the students think outside the box. Teen Read Week, a weeklong "books" experience, allow kids to get excited about reading and books. Kids at BDS talk "books" which is way beyond cool! If you are looking for a place for your child to learn and grow, check out Burlington Day School.

My child attended BDS K4-8th and graduated well prepared to meet the demands of a rigourous private high school curriculum. Best investment we made in our child's education foundation!

Our 7 year-old son aged out of a wonderful Montessori School which taught students without testing. We were very worried how he would adjust, given he had never been graded, had an assigned desk or even had homework. I was ready for him to repeat 2nd grade and we had already been turned down from other private schools because they "didn't have the resources to catch him up". Well, he failed his first test and came home delighted that he had gotten half of the answers right. His teacher re-assured me that he was doing great and would remain 3rd grade. His recent first ever report card ever reflected all A's and B's. Considering where he came from and how much he struggled with simple reading and writing, THAT is a miracle. My son went from hating to read, to reading EVERY time he gets in the car. He loves it and has an insatiable appetite to get his homework done every day, then earn extra credit by doing more. I say that's because this school has made sure that our son received the time, attention and knowledge of their WONDERFUL staff, plus benefitted from learning in a great environment. His teacher is excellent. We are thrilled!

At BDS my child's teacher cares about my his academic and social development. This is my child's first year at BDS and his teacher has provided proactive communication on his strenghts and weaknesses and she has a plan to develop both. The students treat each other with dignity and respect.

Burlington Day School embraces children and helps them develop their special talents. The students are a family that support each other in their learning and sports activities. Each student is valued as an individual and learns positive self-esteem. It a safe, caring environment. It is what all schools should strive to be.

Because BDS stands for excellence in academics, the arts, athletics and in being a good community citizen. Because the faculty and staff care about each child. Because it provided a great foundation for our son, who is now a high school senior and ready to head to college next year.

This is the best school in Alamance County! Because of its size, every child gets the attention he or she needs. Many think that a small school is a disadvantage because there is only one class per grade - I disagree. Students don't just interact with other students in his/her class, they have regular contact and interactions with children of other grades as well. My daughter, (in middle school), has learned to be a positive role model because she has read to, played with, assisted, etc. younger children. The academics are top-notch, and the tuition is very affordable when you consider what private schools cost in Greensboro or Chapel Hill. I think the financial aid program is very good.

My child is in the upper school of Burlington Day School. It is a good, solid school. The academics and teachers are very good and the atmosphere is very caring. The Head of School-who has been there for about 7 years, has done a great job. Kids are happy there and they learn to like learning. I would highly recommend BDS to anyone looking for a private school in the area.

I have been at BDS for three years and me and my children love it! This school has it all, from nuturing teachers to strong academics. I cannot imagine my children going anywhere else. It's the best school in our community and the staff and headmaster make it all possible!!

I agree with the other posting. This school is wonderful in every area. I love the way they foster relationships between the oldest students with the youngest of students. The older children take pride in their roles while they are helping the little ones with projects, reading stories, etc. It creates a great place to learn not only the academic's, but friendship and kindness.

Fabulous school. Not only are the academics top-notch, the children have music and PE daily. Art, French, and Spanish are offered at all levels. Not only does the principal know everyone's name, but most of the older students do too. At BDS, it's OK to be smart. Academically strong children are challenged, and students who need help get it. Athletic teams are available to all upper school children. Even drama is available. The school website is abominable, though, other than that the teachers keep their own pages well up-to-date.
