My son started Kindergarten here after our move from England. He was quite shy when he started but after a year at St Michael he is evolving into an articulate, well behaved, polite and confident young boy. I credit all their staff including teachers, principal, and front desk for providing a safe, happy, nurturing, environment which inspires the children to learn.
I don't normally write reviews, but I feel compelled to share a different perspective from some of the other reviewers here. I have 2 children at the school and over the years have found their teachers to be warm, caring and dedicated professionals. Catholic values are integrated throughout the curriculum and lived through daily activities including service projects. There is plenty of opportunity for parents to become involved in the school community as well. While no school is utopia, in our experience, St. Michael provides a nurturing environment with a solid academic program.
I agree with the previous 1 star review. The "teachers" have created a very judgmental, discriminatory and emotionally abusive environment that breeds favoratism and hatred towards others. The popularity contest begins in PK.
Finding more of an exclusive rather than inclusive environment with students at this school, and it seems to be perpetuated by some of the teachers/assistants. Look carefully before your commit. Expected better from a catholic school, the teachings of God are talked about beautifully but not lived/displayed by all. Very sad.
We have compared our child's school work with friends who have children in the same grade in public school and they are about at the same level. That isn't bad since the public schools here in Cary are so good. The teachers and staff are very caring and kind to the children and that is a plus. If you're expecting very high academic standards and strict discipline this is probably not the school for you. But if you're Catholic and having your child raised in that faith is important to you then this is probably your school.
My kids have attended this school for the past few years and we love it. It is a great blend of academic excellence and a family community that cares about each student. This year they were honored as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. The school is lead by a hands on principal with innovative ideas for making the school the best it can be.
