2 of my children attended CLS and I was very happy with the preschool. Pastor Guy and Mrs. Guy were outstanding. I would not send my other 2 chldren here, however. The school has gone downhill and I am not impressed with several teachers. There are too many preschools in Charlotte at less than half the cost with fabulous teachers who love their jobs and care about children.

2007-2008 was an extremely challenging year for Charlotte Lutheran. After our headmaster left there were several issues uncovered. The School Board was forced to make drastic changes in an effort to save the school. However, the staff that remains is top quality and the overall curriculum and programs the school offers our children has not changed. The school is now focusing on being an early childhood center and things are really looking good this year. I am a parent who believes in this school and still would reccomend it to anone!

We are going into our second year at Charlotte Lutheran and had planned on keeping our child there as long as we could (5th grade). I agree that the school was one of Charlotte's best kept secrets...the leadership team (the board) really let us down and sealed the fate of the school's future. The teachers are and always have been outstanding!! It is a shame what has happened here :(

It is so sad how this school has deteriorated. I had two children that went there and was thrilled with it. Last year the bottom fell out and the Board, not the teachers, walked all over the parents, demanding addl money to keep the kids in school, did not advise about the problem earlier in the year, did not want to listen to any suggestions the parents had nor would they consider any. Pretty much a 'over the barrel' issue. They fired teacher assts , moved kindergarten and first grade together, have been uncommunicative with the parents and teachers. They are disrespecting the teachers at this school who have been there longer than them and as of this school year will be losing some wonderful teachers. I am not writing out of anger but because I do not want anyone to experience the heartache we did. It is so sad

My child has been at Charlotte Lutheran from PK-5th grade. We have been thoroughly satisfied with the quality of her education as well as the family and Christian atmosphere in which she has been surrounded. She received the Presidents Award in the 4th grade as well as the Duke University TIPS program nomination. The small class size as well as not having to be taught the EOB test has allowed her to learn so much more than she would have ever learned in the Charlotte public school system. The school is reasonably priced and has so much to offer. The PTA is very active and teachers are extremely knowledgable and caring. A+ school.

Our two children have been in CLS for six years. One from preschool to current 4th grade and the other from kindergarten to current 5th grade. CLS offers superior quality education in a nourishing Christian environment. Almost the entire 4th grade class received the Duke University TIP program invitation in 2003. Our children have excelled in academics as well as other programs offered by the school. For example, through the school both of our children have achieved first degree balck belts in Tae Kwon Do through the schools affiliation with King Tiger TKD, they are both school, campus and grade chess champions; Duke University TIP recipients, have performed services for Good Will through the school and they and their classmates have achieved success in art, science, math, fencing, community services and so much more. CLS offers the highest level of education as proven in the students SAT scores... years above grade.

The years our children were in CLS allowed them to be prepared for high school and college. This is one of those best kept secrets when it comes to great parochial schools.

This is a great school - the 'Best Kept Secret in Charlotte' - as far as I'm concerned.
