As parents, we believe there are some efforts to instill these qualities in students. If a better example were set by the coaches and teachers, it would improve the success rate. These behaviors are more taught than caught.
The recent issues with drugs are disconcerting. On top of our frustrations with a culture that encourages students to withhold things from their parents and encourages parents to just trust them with their kids, this is the last straw. If you have any questions, you are viewed as a meddling parent. The MS Bible teacher teaches one thing and does another. He is immature and needs mentoring. One English teacher discusses her disappointment in her marriage with students. Where is the discretion?
Some teachers swear in class, my coach trashes our parents to the whole team, a lot of students talk about doing drugs and having sex, teachers have told us to not got to our parents about stuff, and I was mocked by a girl in front of other students who just laughed at me for not having sex yet. It is NOT Christian! It is okay academically here though. We just had kids busted for drugs with K-9 dogs and everything. Crazy!
It just depends on the teacher. A lot of them do okay but some are terrible and some are good. They just need to know what the students know and they would be able to have more stronger teachers by getting rid of some.
