I thought Garr was a great school, until I tried to have a meeting with the principal and 2 teachers. I requested the 1st in e-mail and mailed a certified letter requesting a meeting regarding my child. They ignored me. They They have a Board of Directors and are not member of ANY ORGANIZATION, and are not ACCREDITED. I took my child out of this school after her going for nearly 3 years. I would look somewhere else,

The staff is awesome!!! They care so much about their students and the families. The students are great...you can tell that they care about each other. I love that the teachers care about the students and care what is happening and that they do their best and make the best grades.

I have a child in first grade at Garr. We live in the Matthews and Mint Hill area, which makes it convienient for us. I checked out almost every single private school in East Charlotte and Garr really won out, hands down. The class sizes are small. Computers in every room. Music and art classes taught by professionals every week. Foreign language instruction. Phonics, reading, show and tell, and more. Parents are expected, welcomed, and encouraged to participate here. But beyond all that, is the kindness and loving character of any of the staff that I have encountered here. The afterschool program has the most wonderful teacher as well. She looks after those kids as if they really are her own! We've been so happy here that my other child also attends the preschool at Garr. We wouldn't be anywhere else, at twice the price.

This school is a bright shining star in the Charlotte area. We have all three of our children in attendance, from preschool up to third grade, and we could not be more pleased. The staff are attentive to the child and family, and all needs or questions are addressed quickly, and on a personal level. There is great pride and joy at this school. We moved across the country so our son could attend the autism program here, and we are equally impressed with the programming for typical children as well. The curriculum is diverse, challenging, and up to date. Our children are absolutely thriving there. Garr Christian Academy is quite simply...fantastic! Deanne Nelson

We have two children that have attended Garr for the past year (2007). One is in their preschool program (wonderful!) and the other in Kindergarten (also wonderful!). Every staff member we have dealt with has been wonderful! Lots of school functions, active partental involvement, weekly music program, weekly formal art program, weekly formal music program, really nice playgrounds for preschool and elementary. Computers in the K classrooms, as well as a seperate computer lab. Great afterschool program! Lots of communication between classroom and home with a binder sent home everyday with behavior, homework list, word list, etc.. Religion taught, encouraged, and modeled but not 'forced' (which we have loved). Preschool is kept in a totally seperate, secure building from the elementary school (which is nice).

In our opinion the best private school in Charlotte. They completed a brand new building a few years ago and are located on a beautiful campus. A wonderful non-denominational Christian atmosphere which nurtures the child according to their individual needs. The loving environment focuses on where the child is developmentally and is all about building the child's self-esteem and character. Class sizes are kept small and test scores are well above the national averages for private schools. There's also great sport programs for all ages and the music and art curriculums are strong. The level of parental involvement is great and there is a nice diverse mix of demographics of the families. A new principal for the 2006-2007 school year is focusing on expanding and refining the elementary and middle schools. We have 2 children there and could not be more pleased.
