It is obvious that many of the posts on this page are old. Mass is celebrated twice a month with the entire community, Eucharistic Adoration with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament occurs several times a year, and the Rosary is prayed with the entire school on the weeks when there is not a Mass celebrated. The school has a Chapel Club where students help with the care of liturgical objects, preparation of the altar for Mass, preparation of the music for the Mass as singers and musicians, and helping to prepare liturgical artwork. There is a respect life Club, "Spiritus" (Breath of God) that works in small and large ways to uplift the dignity of all human life. Students give up their lunch and recess periods to make sandwiches, personal care bags, and blankets for the homeless in our community; they have gone on numerous field trips to uplift the marginalized members of the greater community with kind words, smiles, and by being caring listeners to our neighbors' stories. Students and adults receive seasonal prayer booklets that are current while being faithful to Catholic Tradition. We even have a parent lending library with booklets, books, audio CDs and DVDs.
Holy Trinity is a fantastic school! The academics are rigorous, and the teachers have high expectations but are also caring and attentive to individual needs. The Catholic faith is evident throughout the day and in the many ways the school gives back to the community. I had 3 children go through this school and found it to be a top-notch school with great teachers, a lot of technology, and a Catholic base.
Holy Trinity is a great Catholic Middle School now that they have a new principal. The school has improved 100% in the past 2 years. My child has a higher SAT score in the 7th grade then the average HS Senior in NC. While they may not pray the Rosary they take religion class every day and they pray twice a day. The education is worth the money and better then any public school in Charlotte.
A word of warning about this school and its lackadaisical attitude toward bullying. I found the administration's reaction to what has become a serious problem in schools lackluster at best. Despite physical attacks on my son, a simple "talking to" was the only consequence the school administrator deemed appropriate for the offender.
Good academics! Lacks adequate discipline or sufficient religious education. Neither of my children can remember praying the rosary in school. Admistration is superficially polite but seldom actually reacts with a solution.
Another thing is the teachers and staff are really into your businees. I got sent to the councelors office because a teacher ease dropped in my conversations and misinterpretted what I sai to my frends. They just are really worried about your business instead of focusing on teaching. it's really sad.
I'm in 8th Grade. I love my school, but we have a lot of homework everyday.
I am currently attending Holy Trinity in the eighth grade. I love school, have many friends, have had the opportunity to play three school sports THIS YEAR, am in honors classes, and have a strong relationship with God. This school is worth sending your children to. The administration checks in on you to make sure everything is fine and the teachers do their best to accomodate your needs.
I have had three students in Holy Trinity. It is a wonderful school. The atmosphere is truly catholic and the teachers seem to care about the students personally and academically. I've seen a lot of positive changes this past year. The administration is more involved and visible, and there's a lot of communication from the school to keep us parents informed. The buildings are old, they could use some updating but they are clean, classes are organized. It's a great place to send your child.
I graduated from Holy Trinity three years ago and I hated it. The teachers seem to enjoy personally attacking students more than actually teaching. They have no respect for the students, so the students have no respect for them. The education was decent, but the experience was not in any way enjoyable. The facilities are poorly maintained and reek of body odor and garlic bread- the HT stench which is forever ingrained in my brain. The kids are extremely rude and organized into very exclusive cliques. It is a very depressing place, and I consider my middle school days to be the worst three years of my life. I deeply regret not switching out.
I'm also a HTCMS graduate and so I would like to put my two cents in. While HTCMS gave me a great work ethic and discipline, that was only because the teachers screamed and publicly humiliated the students. Needless to say, my drive to succeed comes from a very unhealthy source and required many years of therapy. The catholic school system in Charlotte is a bit of a paradox. They teach about loving one another and treating others as you would be treated, while at the same time verbally berating the students. Not to mention the religion education was a little bit...off. Unfortunately, most of the parents were completely oblivious to how the children were treated. Send your kids to another private school. Its worth the money.
I have to say that Holy Trinity is a wonderful place, when I went there I learned more than I did in some of my elementary school years. The teachers were extremely nice, and I only ever had a problem with one. Not to mention all the friends that I had. Nobody was really hated, everybody had good friends and everyone was nice to everyone. Hardly any bullying problems arose, and when one did it was extremely mild.
I am saddenned by the parent who thought that Holy Trinity is not a supportive environment. I wish I could have been there for you. As a mom of three, I truly understand how you feel. Please allow me to assure you:caring, sincere teachers are always willing to help-before & after school,or at recess At first,(per message inferred solely by my teen sons),I deemed my presence at school was no longer reqiured. But this year I have become involved in the school and various field trips, and I can undoubtedly say that I've loved every minute of it. Getting to know the teachers, the administration staff,my children's friends and fellow peers and the other parents has given me a complete perspective on the amazing Catholic school Holy Trinity is. Yes,we're still growing- finding newer, better ways to teach a child in this rapidly moving world. But God is definitely overseeing things at HTMS.
I think I attend the most awesome school in Charlotte. You'll love being a Bulldog.
Being a former student, I believe I can write a review. This school was overall pretty bad. While there were some great teachers, some did nothing. I can't comment on sports and the clubs and art program were okay but the music program (other than a great band) was awful and the religion program wasn't what it could have been. I could go into a whole rant about it. My parents didn't seem to know anything about what was going on so I'd rate parental involvement pretty low. I blame a lot of this on the principal because it seemed like she had no idea what she was doing (I didn't even see her until 7th grade).
Parents, I can not say enough good things about Holy Trinity Catholic Middle School! Our son went from an A honor roll student in public elementary school, to Cs and Ds his first year of public middle school. He is again a Straight A Student, and the commitment and love I have experienced from each and every staff member at HT has been beyond our expectations. What a blessing to be part of such a stellar school. I would recommend Holy Trinity to any parent who wants a better education in a safe, disciplined and loving environment.
The new student orientation program would benefit from basic organization. As a new parent/student to the school we experienced a lack of clear direction or focus from the process and the administration. This continued throughout the year. Education was acceptable. Music students spent considerable time watching PE class. It's a bit of a loose ship.
My children went to Holy Trinity and I found it to be an amazing school. The community is caring the volunteers are amazing and any child who is willing to come in early, or stay late or give up activity period will find that their teachers are there for them and want them very much to succeed. My senior at Charlotte Catholic was extremely well prepared to go on and take a total of 11 AP courses. Scored in the top .05% on the PSAT in 9th grade and a 2350 out of 2400 on the new SAT while holding down a part time job and being involved in other activities and sports.
I have a child in the 7th grade and he is failing. He barely gets any attention for his needs. Teachers have denied him many times when he has asked for help. The principal I believe does not know what she is doing. Please try to find another middle school, for it is my opinion that this school is a failure.
I have an eigth grader in this school. All i can say is this is a great school, they are very challenged, teachers are great, most with masters degrees in their subject and already I have found my son is doing 10th grade public school level in 8th grade. The kids are great also.
