We moved here a year and a half ago from Las Vegas, NV and I was very nervous about moving my (then) third grader to a new school. However, I consider myself blessed to have found this amazing community school! From the Principal and his staff, to the teachers and the parents, this school is top notch! I would not hesitate one bit to recommend this school to a newcomer!

Highland Creek is top notch. Every child is treated fairly and equitably. Discipline is handled in a calm but firm manner and volunteerism in the class room, clearly demonstrates the partnership between school and home, teacher and parent. I came form another school and the atmosphere between the two schools is almost night and day. It's a fun place for learning.

Highland Creek has a very dedicated staff, involved and supportive parents who are active participants in their children's education, and most importantly, the most wonderful group of students anyone could hope for!!

Highland Creek has a very devoted staff. They are committed to ensuring that these kids get the best education they can. The school also offers many additional activities like chorus, recorder club etc.....which help the kids get more involved in their school. This builds a good foundation for later years promoting school spirit and community service. In addition they have fun activities that benefit the school and the children such as the movie night!!!

About the tests

In 2011-2012 North Carolina used End-of-Grade (EOG) tests to assess students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math, and grades 5, 8, and 10 in science. The EOG is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of North Carolina. Students must pass the grade 8 EOG test in order to graduate from high school. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level on the tests.
