I have a child that attended this school last year and will attend next year along with my other child. The reviews that people have posted on here are insane. I if your child I is not learning because the pastor is not involved then your child needs to go else where. Where does it say that he needs to be hands on involved? My 5 year old went get after never being around a school environment and can read anything you put in front of her. And love love loves this school was upset that she was out for summer. This school has what I love and that is student involvement. Every student had a roll in every play every dance and every activity. The teachers her are not all teaching curriculum, but teaching or boys how to been gentlemen and our girls how to be ladies. If my pockets will allow my kids will continue to go here as long as they can! Thank you pastor Kee for creating a school and providing the means at this school for my child een
I agree with certain things that the previous poster said. I think the way things were handled with the parents as far as the old administrator leaving and a new "acting administrator" being there was insane and absurd. I found out about it "officially" when a letter went home two weeks after the old administrator was gone. It seems there really isn't an administrator considering the "acting" one also has a class to teach. I have already heard the "acting one" chastise one of the teachers in presence of a parent. That is very disrespectful and does not demonstrate a quality of an administrator. As far as the teacher to student ratio is concerned, that's an issue but it is not the teacher's fault. The pastor is not seen but we have been told that he sees and knows everything that is happening in the school. Unfortunately, in private schools, there is no law that forces the school to ensure that the teachers have credentials in what they are actually teaching (I looked that up myself). As a parent, paying for their child's education and education across the board, it is important that we are all critical to ensure that our children are receiving the best education.
I would not recommend this school to any parent. We have not been having a good experience. The teachers are not the issue, its the administrative staff and how the school is ran. Now they dont even have an adminstrative staff to even run the school, because the person who was in charge left so abrubtly. So unprofessional and ghetto. The pre-k teacher to student ratio is outrageous 1 teacher to 18 students is insane, how can any child get the proper help and care that they need. and I never see the Pastors involved in the school. and Im not sure if any of the teachers have the proper crendentials to be teaching students. I hope im not being to critical but i expect exellence being that this is a christian school. My child attends now but they will not be attending this school next year!!
NLCA is an excellent school. Family oriented and the students do receive a quality education. The school implements discipline as well which is well needed for a productive learning environment. I will never send my children back to a public school. My child does not have behavior or learning issues and is still doing much better at NLCA. Thank you Ms. Doan Clark, Administrator and Pastor Kee and First Lady. We really appreciate you!!!!!! Life and Favor!!!!
I am also a parent at NLCA and I have to concur with the parent from September of 2011 that stated the children did not have books. That was almost four months ago and they still don't have any books. They offer no legitimate explanation and seem to not understand that they lack credibility as an institution when they fail to deliver a basic instructional tool, such as books. No books is just one of the many shortcomings of this school. There also seems to be an inordinate amount of students with behavioral issues, which may be a result of this school's acceptance of children expelled from CMS. Also, it is untrue that the pastor and his wife are very involved with school. If so, they must do so outside of normal school hours. With that said, I would never recommend NLCA to any parent. Aside from the caring teachers, this place has very little to offer and can never expect to satisfactory reviews other than from individuals who are accustomed to chaos and disorder. Parents please beware of this school and PLEASE find a better educational environment for your child.
I thought this school was great at first. Regardless I don't want my child in public school and this is the most affordable Christian school around. Education wise it is okay but not at the level it should be. I believe the teachers are overworked at times. They look exhausted at times and I want to rescue them and figure out what I can do to help. As parents we were told that the students would have books on the first day of school but they still don't have books yet! I don't know about other parents, but I pay my school bill on time and want my child to have books. I'm sure the teachers are creative with the materials that they have to teach the kids. I do love the fact that the teachers care about the students no matter if they're in their class or not!
My son attended New Life Christian Academy School this past school year. i felt that the instructional level was great for my child. I feel it is a great attribute when kids participate in various activities that allow them to grow internally. My son has displayed great success this past year, so I am thankful for the adminstration and teachers at New Life Christian Academy.
NLCA is the best school ever! The administrator and the staff are wonderful and loving. This is our first year attending Private school and I must say the best investment as a parent I could have made. When my 3rd grader came home saying, "Mommy let me lay hands on you and pray for you, since you're not feeling well." I knew from that day I made the right choice by enrolling my boys in this school. I love this school and already enrolled my boys for 2011-2012 school year. This is not just a school, we are family at New Life Christian Academy. Thank you Pastor Kee and Felice for your vision. NLCA changed my families life!
My child has been attending New Life since Pre-K and it is a wonderful school. The administration and staff care not only about the students' education but their overall well being. Many students have left the school to attend public school and have been skipped a grade upon being tested. The teachers challenge the students as well as make adjustments for the student who are struggling. The pastor, who is the founder and visionary of the school, as well as his wife are very involved with the school. They show their concern for each and every child at the school. I would recommend and have recommended this school to many and will continue to do. As a parent, I intend to continue to be part of the solution instead of creating any problems.
