West Clayton made my sons transition from moving and starting school much better and he is quickly learning and loves school. The teachers are incredible working with the kids and involving the parents as well as keeping us updated with their school work. Excited for our youngest to start next year.
Both my children (boys) have attended from Kindergarten. Great quality teachers and challenging instructional environment. Great community involvement and strong PTA. Many volunteer opportunities and parental interaction. Principal was helpful in considering special needs for placement. Technology needs an overhaul Media Center needs funding for upgrades Would like to see a foreign language offering
We have lived in Clayton for 3 years and my son has loved this school and the involvement is great as well among teachers and staff
This is one of the best elementary schools in Johnston County. The teachers and staff truly care about their students and go above and beyond to help each student succeed.
Wow, what a nice school. We were so pleasantly surprised. We moved here from Wake County and love the community school feel. Academics are totally up to par and the teachers actually want to be at this school, specifically. Good parent involvement, but would like to see more dads get into the mix. (Let's maybe form a dads' group). That is true almost everywhere though--Moms rule most schools. Mr. Bunn was great but is now retired. Mrs. Gill seems ready to fill his very big shoes. The school is a little too big for its britches though and I wish the school's enrollment was less than what it is, but that song could be sung in just about any North Carolina public school. I have to say though, my son's Kindergarten class remained at a manageable 17 kids in comparison to its Wake
The teachers work really great with the students.
My nephew and niece absolutely love this school! I have never seen a staff of teachers so willing to help. The kids have progressed beyond measure, especially my nephew who was having some trouble academically.
The staff is caring and the school is always organized, neat, and clean
everyone in this school, parents and administrators stick together like glue when it comes to the children They are there for the utmost support
My grandchildren attend WCES and I have been so pleased to see the extra help they get when they need it and the caring friendly atmosphere that is always in the school when I have been there..the teachers display genuine concern and readiness to help when problems arise...the children are so proud of their school
