North Stokes is a great place. The academics are very good, and the class sizes average 20-25 in core classes. The honor classes seem to have more kids per class, but that works out most of the time because they work well together. The principal is a stand up guy and really cares about the kids and the school's image. They just hired a new athletic director who is also the football coach. He brings a lot of excitement to the school and kids absolutely love playing for him. He runs the spread and the kids love it. He knows it well, and keeps the team in ball games wilth chances to win, even competing against superior athletes. The basketball coach took a team to the state championship in 2006, and consistently is a competitor in the 1A ranks, with a lot of respect from other coaches around the state. North has made the 1A playoffs 10 straight years. His teams always play hard and have a chance to win. If your son is an athlete, he will be utilized and coached by men of high character at North Stokes.
This school in my opinion is a much better school than both south stokes and west stokes. Students around here get along and are not cocky. From banjo pickers to skateboarders we all work together in fulfilling our goals at north stokes.
its a great school and everyone is always friendly. plus there is no gang violence.
North Stokes is a great school for an individual to recieve good one on one learning, the last post was totally off on her review of North Stokes pregnancy happen everywhere and for the lack of sex education that is a state wide issue and i suggest you take that up with your elected higher official in the North Carolina Senate. North Stokes is a great school that only has about 420 students. It has a good atmosphere where everyone knows everybody. Which allows for a more individualized approach to your learning. I would diffently recommend this school to any parent planning on moving in the region.
First of all I fail to believe that there are only 442 students at this school. Second, there are at the least 25 students in all of my daugters classes(she is a 9th grader). One of her teachers says he has one class with 31 students in it. And the fact that there has been several pregnant girls in this school leaves me to believe that there is not enough, if any, teaching on teenage sexuality. That should be addressed. Overall I think North Stokes could use a lot of work.
