Woodlawn is such an amazing school! My children can't wait to go to school everyday and I have to drag them into the car when I come and pick them up. They love being at this school! The teacher's are fantastic and the curriculum is truly integrated. The 65 acre campus is so peaceful. My children are outside so much during the day - even for classes sometimes! They also do actual service on a regular basis in the community. It is very engaging as well and my bright children that were bored and often "checked out" during the day at their previous school are fully engaged and love it. I can't say enough great things about this school, we are overwhelmed!
This school is truly a unique gem in the area. My daughter went to public school and was, in my opinion, not getting the education she deserved. The atmosphere is very condusive to learning there. She has had fantastic teachers so far. I love the fact that they dont just look at books and tests but integrate many hands on activities which reinforce the lesson.. cant say enough!!
Two years ago when we started at Woodlawn we were told that a C at Woodlawn is equal to a A at any other school. After transferring my child to a CMS school we have found that my child is more academically challenged, and learning more organizational and time management skills. Looking back it is my impression that my child was taking part in an educational experiment, the results, positive or negative will not be seen for many years. Their standardized test scores look great on paper, but look very closely to the day to day running of the school. It is my opinion that those scores reflect the ability of the child, and the involvement of the parent rather than the execution of curriculum by the school.
