I gave this rating of average because while the teachers are all excellent, the principal leadership needs improvement and/or change. Let's just say, dictatorship comes to mind where all is feared to speak their minds for fear of losing their jobs. It's pretty sad, because it ultimately comes back and effects the children in their classrooms. As a military family ourselves, we have chosen to not attend this school in the next school year so that another school with better leadership can benefit better with our Impact Aid relief fund from the federal government.

My son has been a student at Armstrong Elementary for two years and is thriving. The internet is updated regularly by the staff and allows me to follow the class and school activities, reminding both him and his father of important dates. We are all exceedingly pleased with our son's progress.

My daughter has been enrolled at Armstrong for 2 years now and she really enjoys the teacher and staff at the school. She really enjoyed being in pre K last year and kindergarten this year. I think she is in one of the best schools in Cumberland County. I truly am happy with the staff and teachers and look forward to the next 5 years at Armstrong. Keep doing a good job!

A very good school, however they are being penalized in their standing by the fact that they are being forced to take slow learners from other areas. This causes their performance to be somewhat tainted. The principal and staff are efficient, courteous, and professional. As I have stated in my rating of teachers they are of the highest quality. The school is much better than reported by the North Carolina State evaluation. On the other hand, Eastover Central Elementary School is rated so high, the honesty of the reporting is questionable. Some of the Cumberland County School Board members have really been critical of Armstrong's performance, especially during the time that the Year Round program was being decided for Armstrong for school year 2003-2004.
